PLEASE LEAVE THE PAGE OPEN FOR 2-5 MINUTES TO LOAD ALL PHOTOS. ALSO SEE A VIDEO BY COPY/PASTING THE LINK, TO SEE HOW WITHOUT A SINGLE STEERING VIBRATION, THIS VEHICLE HANDLES ON A HIGHWAY AT ALMOST 100 MILES PER HOUR. I POSTED TWO DIFFERENT VIDEOS OF THE CAR. DRIVINGhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmKeCQtlKnM THE CARhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4-ONPRXczE This vehicle is always garaged and is driven once a week. Up for sale is my 1972 Mercedes 280SEL 4.5, W108. Without a doubt, I can proudly say that this is one of the cleanest and well taken care of W108's in the country. I’ve been an enthusiast of this model for years and follow all auctions and see all available ones for sale. I acquired the vehicle in 2008 from its second owner in Northern California. The first owner had the car up until 2006 and due to poor health he sold the vehicle to the gentleman, that later sold it to me. A lot was spent on the vehicle since I took ownership. The second owner had the engine rebuilt by a reputable shop in SF and decided that he didn't want to get too involved in restoring the vehicle. The engine cost him a lot already, so he dropped the dream project. The vehicle has an incredible engine and power. It runs like a clock. I am able to accelerate this car to 100 miles per hour easily within seconds and hold it for a long time. It has all the power you would expect. The car was only driven about 3000 miles after the engine was rebuilt. This is a rust free CALIFORNIA car. Here is what I’ve done to the car after I acquired. The car received a paint job with its original color with a single stage paint. I had the wood removed and it was redone by Madera Concepts in Goleta CA, the most reputable wood shop in the country. They had done almost every vehicle I owned and they are the best. My wood looks terrific. I’ve never seen a W108 with such beautiful wood finish. This was a $3400 job. I had my Becker radio fully refurbished by a Becker authorized center in NJ and I added an AUX input, so that I could listen to my music and still have only the original equipment in the car. I changed all speakers to high end brands for a better sound, since its original ones didn’t have a good sound. All my seals are new starting from the trunk seal to all 4 doors. The hood received a new original pad and a new original Mercedes battery. I purchased the new refurbished steering wheel about 2 years ago. Cost over $700. The trunk received a new original rubber mat and as an addition a carpet one. In the trunk you will find the original tools and the very rare original gas can that fits inside the spare tire. Speaking of tires, my vehicle received 5 brand new Hankook whitewall tires, which are the factory recommended size and new original hub caps. My chrome is in phenomenal shape and all bumper rubbers were replaced to new and original. I buy everything for this vehicle from Mercedes Classic Center in Irvine, which is the only classic Mercedes dealer in the country and they only carry original parts. All window regulators were replaced in time and the driver’s one was just replaced 2 weeks ago to an original and brand new. The interior is as clean as it gets and the coco mats were added by me for the original look. The door sills are original and brand new as well. Mechanically the car is as close to perfect as it gets. A lot was done on the suspension and you can tell from the photos of the under carriage. The master cylinder was replaced about a month ago and my brakes are solid. All belts and hoses and the cooling system was all replaced and/or refreshed. This vehicle always received all the attention and nothing was ever spared on it. The clock is the only gauge that does not work. If you asked me if I would put my family in this car and drive from coast to coast, I would say YES with confidence, since this vehicle drives like a new one. Go and drive on the most uneven streets and you will not hear a single sound from the bottom or interior. My suspension is as tight as on a new car. Watch the video I posted to see clearly how I accelerate from 0 to 90 miles per hour on an open road within seconds. I drove the car on a very warm day and on a highway, going at least 80 miles an hour for at least 30 minutes and the more I drove the better it drove and felt. I lost count of what I spent on the car but I know I spent enough to satisfy myself and Its not easy to do that. I somehow lost some of its file with a file of another W108. I am assuming that the file accidently went to a buyer of my white 280SEL, which I sold in 2010. The deal went sour, due to an out of state buyer, who left his shipping payment for me to pay after receiving the vehicle and taking advantage of the fact, that I ordered the shipping myself for him as a courtesy. I restored an identical one and now someone will have the car I loved and cared for, for 6 years. I will only show the car to the highest bidder, after a deposit is made and if the buyer decides to see the vehicle before taking ownership. Please bid with confidence since you cannot possible be disappointed with your purchase, unless you were looking for a brand new W108. If the vehicle is not exactly as I describe, I do not expect the buyer to pay for it. Good Luck!
