Barn Find! 1957 Cadillac Special Sixty Series Fleetwood 1 Owner 38,000 original miles clear title reads actual miles Original paint and drivetrain! In storage for the last 25yrs No Reserve Will Sell To Highest Bidder To Settle Estate Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE You are viewing a 1957 Cadillac Series 60 – Special which is the Fleetwood body. A huge 5 inches longer then then that 62 series sedan. There is something to be said about Detroit luxury from the 50’s. These cars were built in a time when workers couldn’t wait to show a company what they were made of. Those same workers earned their money, they didn’t feel entitled, and expect it. Most of those workers fought for our country with honor. Those are the cars that America bought, and America was proud to own. But before the foreign exchange got hot, there was only one name for luxury and that was Cadillac. You knew when they were coming, and certainly stared at them as they were going. Cadillac always was a symbol of excellence and achievement. Today….it’s sort of lost. This 1957 Cadillac was the ultimate symbol of stature, luxury and excellence. When you saw that grill come shining down the road, you knew, without a doubt, it was a Cadillac. The 1957 model had such brand recognition yet it still competed in style, performance and luxury. As you look at this old war horse in the pictures, it almost appears eerie and ghost like. And as this behemoth was dragged from darkness and revisited the light of day, it almost is overwhelming to think that that hands of America were once assembling this car and yet it is still together, solid and proud. I want you to read on about this true 1 owner rare find that even the dust on it that was collected over the years has a story to tell. But I ask you to try and put yourself back and time and pretend you’re sitting in the driver’s seat of this car in a local Cadillac Showroom thinking how truly awesome it would be to own America’s truest of all luxury cars. Exterior: As you can see from the pictures the exterior has fought the good fight and I assure you all the floors, rockers and frame are solid showing only surface rust. All the glass is intact. And even though the tires are flat, we can make this into a rolling chassis that is all there. The car is a true 1 owner car with only 38k original miles since new. It has been sitting for over 2 decades and prior to that was rarely driven. The possibilities are truly endless with this straight, original Cadillac. There is something to be said about how well this car stood the test of time. No paint work could be found. I would love to wash the car but I'll let the new owner have the surprise and glory. It was stored in a garage with a concrete floor for all these years. Interior: Wow….the interior has seen its better days but is all there. It’s like looking at the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean and only the remains of the truest luxury beast are in existence. The car came with 6 way power seats, power window and brakes. A radio and a heater optional Autronic Eye headlight dimmer and compass. Top of the line luxury back in 57 and my how we’ve become spoiled through the years. The pictures sure tell a story and the car, like an old man saying…..”there was a day, there was a day that I was in my prime and what a sight it was….” . This is a blank canvas of a 57 year old vehicle for any restorer or collector. Drivetrain: The car could run, however there are no keys. That is up to you. Its being sold as a rolling Caddy. The motor does turn with a pry bar and it’s the original, numbers matching, untouched v8 – 365 with 300 hp. The transmission as well is numbers matching and original to the car. It’s the GM Turbo Hydra-Matic Jetaway 4 Speed Auto. Don’t ask about the brakes, hoses, etc just assume all there, but I’m sure not working. The wheels do roll freely. The exhaust is rusted to dust just about. In Summation: This Cadillac is a piece of American history from a time a lot of us wish we were back in. I’m trying to find the one that has the know how on how to bring this car back to the streets of the USA! I’ll check anything or take more pictures of whatever you ask. Comes with all the dust and glory. NOT RUNNING IN NEED OF RESTORATION. TRULY ONLY 38,000 MILES!!! Here is an excerpt I found online…….ENJOY!! Cadillac Fleetwood was the “Cadillac of Cadillacs.” Every sculptured in steel contour and each touch of chrome, stainless steel and brushed aluminum was skillfully designed to achieve an enduring and timeless motor car. The 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty-Special sedan provided a spectacular new high performance engine, with exceptional luxury and extraordinary beauty. A Fleetwood Sixty-Special hardtop sedan was the culmination of the refined techniques and styling genius of Fleetwood craftsmen. The Cadillac Fleetwood Series augmented the line-up for Cadillac perennially. The lower fenders embodied a single flowing panel of ribbed anodized aluminum with moldings made of stainless steel. The sweep of the new pillarless hardtop sedan design combined with the panoramic windscreen and backglass gave the Fleetwood Sixty-Special a light airiness that was unavailable in the traditional sedan. These were just a few of the 1957 Fleetwood Sixty-Special’s distinguishing design features that emphasized its exclusive character. Its completely new profile and interior elegance marked it as one of the most dramatically styled motor cars of all time. The 1957 model year held a complete re-tooling for all models. Priced from $5,539, the Fleetwood Sixty-Special had a pillarless hardtop sedan styling that sold 24,000 units. The Fleetwood series was the most eloquent of all Cadillac models. With its luxurious signature wheelbase of 133”, the Fleetwood Sixty-Special was the most gracious way to travel Cadillac style. The 1957 Sixty-Special possessed that poised dignity that was the hallmark of every Cadillac. A Sixty-Special was the epitome of Cadillac elegance. These were the most luxurious owner-driven sedans in the model hierarchy. The Fleetwood series had an individually longer wheelbase than the standard Cadillac models. Its unique grandeur immediately set it apart from the others in any gathering of fine automobiles. The brand new styling showcased the pillarless hardtop sedan design that the rest of the industry would immediately adopt. It made the car look longer and sleeker, contemporary for the day it was. The luxury length of 224.4” and long 133” wheelbase carried on the tradition of the Cadillac Magic Carpet Ride. The elegant exterior featured yards of dazzling chrome and stainless steel trim. A wide ribbed bright anodized metal panel extended from the doors to the rear bumper. A chrome rocker panel molding ran into the front wheel trim rings ending at the front bumper. The Fleetwood’s swept roofline, canted “C” pillars, and wide wrap-around rear backglass was not only beautiful but gave a panoramic rearview. And of course, there were the iconic Cadillac tail fins towering above the trunk lines. The 1957 Fleetwood Sixty-Special was one class-act. The Cadillac 16-valve 365 CID OHV V8 engine block was made of cast iron. It had five main bearings and used hydraulic lifters. The engine was equipped with two Rochester #7015701 4-bbl carburetors. It went from 0-60 mph in 12.2 seconds, 0-100 mph in 38.7 seconds, and had a top speed of 115 mph. It could do the ¼ mile @ 78 mph in 18.8 seconds. The 365 CID V8 produced 300 hp @ 4,800 rpm with 515 Nm of peak torque @ 2,800 rpm. The GM Turbo Hydra-Matic Jetaway 4-speed automatic transmission was mated to this powerful V8 engine. The Fleetwood Sixty-Special was a very large and fast sedan. In the entire world there was no other motor car quite like the 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood Series Sixty-Special. Cadillac craftsmanship, performance, styling, and graciousness were superbly integrated into all Fleetwoods. The Sixty-Special offered a special beauty exclusive in the ultra luxury car arena. The “Standard of the World” was once again the leader. The Series Sixty-Special as with all Cadillacs was available in an unusually wide choice of exclusive color and trim combinations. Riding on the 133” wheelbase made boulevard travel unobtrusive. The Cadillac Fleetwood Series Sixty-Special was the most luxurious owner-driven Cadillac. Its preeminence in the luxury car arena was without conjecture the most elegant manner in which to travel Cadillac style. It possessed that poised dignity that was the hallmark of every Cadillac.
