Vehicle Detail
Offered for auction, at a low reserve, is a unique 1928 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan, with a solid body and mechanicals. This is a running and driving automobile that was driven until just recently. The unique aspect is that it may be a true "survivor" which has not been molested, restored or cannibalized. I have had several Model A's in the last 40 years but this is the first one that I can say may indeed be a true ":survivor" It still has a Nickel plated grille sheel and headlights. Car friends and Model A people also feel that it is a survivor. Sometime in it's life, the car received a "brushed on" black paint job. This may very well be the reason that the body is so solid and void of visible rust. Check the photos of the cowl panels and note that there is no prominent signs of rust out. You can see from the pictures that there have been tail lights added, which are not Model A, as well as turn signal controls and a few other items that kept it in use. The ignition switch was replaced with a simple toggle switch. The right front fender shows the typical break at the crown there is also minor cracking on the right rear. The left side appears solid. The previous owner stated that they drove the car when the grand kids came over and was used quite frequently. It starts easily and runs smooth. It will stop but repeated stops heat up the drums and reduce effectiveness. This most likely can be remedied with brake adjustment or brake rod adjustment. I purchased this car by word of mouth, with the intention of harvesting it's cowl for a planned "woody" project street rod. When I actually saw the car it was clear that this was too good of a car to piece out or even to street rod. This vehicle should be restored to original Model A specifications and would be an outstanding specimen for restoration. Of course, the car as it is, could be driven and enjoyed. They are only original once. The car is located in Lemont, Illinois 60439. Transport and all shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. I will gladly help load or meet a shipper of your choice to assist in loading the car. I can deliver within 200 miles for $1.45 per loaded mile, prepaid. A $300.00 Paypal deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction end. Local pickup is welcome. Potential bidders are welcome and encouraged to come out and inspect the car. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.On Aug-11-14 at 05:57:43 PDT, seller added the following information: I need to clarify that this is a UNRESTORED car, not a concours restoration. I have had a few questions from potential bidders that are reflective of brand new cars not 86 year old cars as this one is. It is a really solid original that would make a perfect base for a serious restoration. It also has a clear and current Illinois title, last issued in 1997.On Aug-16-14 at 16:03:27 PDT, seller added the following information: The headlights, tail lights and horn are not working. However, they all work off of a single switch. It may not be functioning or I am applying it incorrectly. Turn signals and wiper works.
