Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this 1956 Packard Executive in two door hard top. I acquired the car in 1986. It had been off the road for quite a few year just sitting in outdoor storage. It has been in indoor storage since about 1994. However, the car certainly needs total restoration, or to be used for parts. Has surface rust here and there, especially the right rear fender area. The floor is solid, except the floor pan of the trunk is rusted through in places The previous owner had started on the car, removed the rear bumper, tail light fixtures, and the headlight rims and these items are in the trunk. All the side trim has been removed and is inside the car. It is a complete car. Doesn't seem to be anything missing. I have tried to show all this with the pics. There is an extra taillight fixture in the trunk the front windshield is cracked, and there is a small crack high and to the front where the cozy wing starts on the driver's door window glass. I think its safe to say that the odometer has started over and that the total mileage is 143473, if not more. The wheel covers are in the trunk, also. The gas tank has been damaged and leaks. It possibly could be repaired, but not sure about that. The 56 Packard Executive had the Clipper cathedral tail light fixtures, which were popular, but it had the chrome trim of the senior cars which was mainly manifest in the grille and front bumper area. The entire dash instrumentation is all there, which is the more ornate cluster assembly which the senior cars had, and looks very nice. The tires on the car are not correct. They are just "rollers" so that the car can be moved. The rims are correct. To sum it all up, the car is being sold for restore or parts. It will go to the highest bidder. No reserve on this one. On Aug-13-14 at 04:53:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Two observations have come to my attention from the pictures that I took of this vehicle in the engine compartment. One is that the carburetor shown is a two barrel rather than a four barrel. The other is that one of the valve covers has what is left of a decal that says Hornet. It appears that the original engine may have been replaced before I acquired the vehicle with an engine out of a Hudson Hornet from 1955 when AMC bought Packard engines to use in their 1955 production run of their top of the line cars, because their own brand new 327 CID engines were not ready in time. The Packard engines they used were 320 CID/two barrel carbs. My understanding is that the Executive engine was 352 CID/four barrel. Assuming this is the case, and if this is an issue to the buyer, I have a 352 Clipper engine that I can throw in for free. This is out of a parts car that I acquired many years ago, which was a running car before it was wrecked in the rear quarter panel on the drivers side. It also has a two barrel. Nothing I can do about that.
