Vehicle Detail

1979 Dodge Ramcharger SE just recently put back on the road after swapping a 91.5 cummins/Getrag/205 drivetrain into it. This was a frame off swap where the frame was power steam cleaned and coated with an oil rig paint that is hard as nails. I have loved building this truck and would love to see it finished but I have hit a snag in the road and need to come up with cash for my future. I have hundreds of hours working on this truck and the work is documented in a build on Ramcharger Central. Truck spent its entire life in Colorado until I purchased it 5 years ago so minimal rust is all you have to deal with no major structural problems. Mileage on the body is 125K You can find my build which has all the pictures and descriptions by going to google and typing '79 Ramcharger S/E 12-valve the first one that pops up will be for Ramcharger Central. I have done a lot to turn this truck into the beast you see. From removing the body to properly convert the frame to drilling every spot weld on the firewall to replace it with the later style firewall to allow the use of the late model a/c box. All wiring connections were properly stripped cleaned and soldered back together-no butt connectors here. The truck runs great with tons of add on and upgrades. Power windows (working, new motors) and power locks(wired, but not hooked up). I swapped all the wiring from a donor 1991.5 donor truck. All the wiring Here is a list of added goodies that were replaced/installed during the build.Aftermarket Autometer Cobalt gauges4" diamond eye exhaustBrand new Sach HD clutch installed when swap was doneNew clutch slave and mater cylinderOff Road Design crossover steering kit added to eliminate bump steerDetroit Locker installed in rear axleNew Energy suspension body mounts installedPoly Performance transfer case mountsNew Anchor brand motor mountsRadiator rodded and cleanerPiston type low pressure fuel pump upgradeCustom Vulcan draw straw installed in fuel tank to improve fuel delivery as well as all new diesel rated fuel line installed from tank to pump-3/8" supply and 5/16" returnRebuilt hybrid H1C turbo has 60mm GDS inducer and a 12cm exhaust housingAll new brake system every component (except the steel lines) was replaced.Areas of concern There are a few items that are still needing some attention on this truck. First, the transmission is noisy. I was told by the previous owner that it had been rebuilt a couple years before, but he could not remeber the mileage it had on it. I re-shimmed the mainshaft before installation and hoped for the best. It sometimes will not go in first, but with 4.10 gears I never need first. Could be a synchro that has has worn or could be a shifter top plate issue. I run 5-30W synthetic oil and over filled it by 1 qt. like what is recommended on all reputable diesel sites. The temp gauge does not work. I have a 93 style sending unit in the truck, but it could be the gauge. The floor will need some finished up where I had to make room for the twin stick shifter for the 205 t-case. Front carpet is not installed, but is included with the truck.Speedometer will sometimes not work, a simple tap on the bezel wakes it up always. The Air conditioning is not hooked up due to the condenser not fitting behind the grille. it could be made to fit, but I didn't want to hack up the lower grille filler. All hoses and a/c parts are included.Engine The engine in this truck runs extremely well. Upon removal I replaced the front main, rear main, all valve cover and timing cover gaskets. While it was opened up, I tabbed the KDP with a custom billet tab and re-torqued/thread locked all the front case bolts. The only mod done at that time was the factory fuel pin was rotated to the deep side. The truck runs extremely well. I also installed a brand new Cummins low pressure piston lift/fuel pump on the engine to guarantee great fuel pressure. Hybrid turbo helps this truck really get up and go under full boost it will pull 27 psi. Mileage on engine is 315K no issues, no burning oil! Drivetrain Front Dana 60 with new brakes, upper king pin bushings, new brake lines and calipers. Rear Dana 70 with detroit locker all new bearings, new larger wheel cylinders and new e-brake cables. Twin Sticked rebuilt 205 transfer case getrag 360 5spd transmission. Rebuilt/balanced driveshafts with Spicer 1410 u-joints. Rolling Stock 315/75/16 B.F. Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tires with only 5K miles on them. Mounted on 16x10 Ultra Wheels To summarize this is a great truck that gets tons of looks wherever it goes and with very little work could be one heck of a nice truck. It is big and loud! There is no reserve and winner takes all on this truck. I can help on my end if shipping is necessary. The original buckets and console will come with the truck. Please email with any questions as I know I missed something On Aug-09-14 at 20:49:26 PDT, seller added the following information:I've had a couple questions about the truck, here are some answers. -This truck is a full convertible, the roof comes off from the windshield back. -It is currently tagged and titled and I drive it everyday. It has had 5,000 miles put on since the conversion. -The fuel mileage is very consistent netting 19.3 on average at 66 mph. -It DOES have an intercooler installed. I also included some pics of the truck with the top off.
