Vehicle Detail

This auction ends Sunday, July 10th shortly after 6pm, Mountain Time This is a sweetheart of a truck - a very original and nicely-optioned 1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne Super.  I am the third owner of this truck.  It has power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, tilt steering, and cruise control.  The original 350 V8, a TH350 automatic transmission, and a 3.08 positraction rear axle make it a fun, easy-to-drive classic truck that is reliable and ready for anything. Interior - The parchment interior of this truck is clean and in very nice original condition.  It retains all of the proper upgrades that the Cheyenne Super package included - woodgrain door panel, gauge cluster and glovebox inserts, deluxe pedal trim, a headliner, cigarette lighter, etc.  I believe the houndstooth seat to be original and never recovered, and I also think the dash pad is original.  The dash has not been cut and houses a vintage AM/FM/cassette radio that works fine.  The original black steering wheel is mounted to the factory tilt column.  The instrument cluster is in great condition - everything is bright and clean, all lights work, all gauges work.  Aftermarket cruise control was added many years ago and still works! Exterior - The exterior of the truck is also in very nice original condition.  It has always been parked indoors when not being driven, and it shows - for example, the seam sealer in the rain gutter is intact and not cracked or dried out.  It was also undercoated when new.  The two-tone paint is nearly all original and is smooth and shiny.  All of the glass is in good condition.  The grill, bumpers, and trim pieces are all original and in very nice shape for their age.  The doors, tailgate, and hood line up nicely and open and close easily - no sagging and no need to slam anything to get it to close.  The metal bed floor is straight and not warped from heavy use. Mechanical - This truck starts easily, runs smoothly, shifts well, and drives down the road nicely.  The engine is the original 350 V8 that is strong, well-maintained, and runs cool (has the big 4-core radiator).  The dual exhaust is new, sounds throaty, and retains factory manifolds.  The transmission is a 3 speed automatic (TH350), it shifts nicely and is also believed to be original to the truck.  The suspension is stock, with new KYB front shock absorbers, and has the trailing arms/coil springs in the rear.  It also has a front sway bar, which really makes these old trucks a lot more pleasant to drive.  The rear axle came from the factory with positraction and a 3.08 gear ratio, which makes for a pleasant highway cruiser and decent fuel economy. Flaws - I have been told I’m often too critical, but here are the things I’d want to know if I were buying this truck.  Please don’t get the wrong impression from this paragraph - this is a very nice truck, as you can see from the photos below (especially considering it is 42 years old and nearly all original!).  The pictures were taken only a few days ago, so they are current and accurate.  I simply don’t want the new owner to have any surprises or disappointments.  As mentioned above, the paint is mostly original, and as such it has numerous scratches, dings, and rock chips.  Both rocker panels and cab corners have seen some professional repair work (they have not been replaced), so these are the only areas of the truck that are not original paint.  The repair work was done quite awhile back (at least 18 years) and is holding up nicely.  The only dent to mention is a small one on the driver's bedside, approximately 2 feet behind the cab and about 3" below the bed rail.  The area behind each rear mudflap has a bit of rust (not really seen now, but if you were to remove the mud flaps it would be apparent), and the bed floor has minor rust near the rear corners as is common on these trucks.  At one time the truck had larger mirrors, so there are 3 small mounting holes on each door that have been nicely plugged.  The grill surround has a small ding near the passenger headlight, and is otherwise straight.  The carpet is original and showing its age, and as shown in the pictures the seat cover is not perfect.  The horn does not work, and the horn button is from a GMC instead of a Chevrolet.  The engine does leak some oil, probably from the rear main seal.  The tires are fair (they are not new).  These are all relatively minor or easily addressed issues, but I felt they should be disclosed up front. Overall - This truck is a great driver.  The steering is nice and tight, the truck doesn't wander down the road. The ride is pleasant. It doesn't squeak or rattle when driving over bumps. The doors open and close easily.  The turn signals cancel themselves properly.  All of the lights work.  The exhaust sounds great. The truck runs, drives, and stops exactly like it should.  The 3.08 gears mean you can drive this truck at highway speeds without over-revving the engine or wasting fuel, and the power steering and power disc brakes make it easy for anyone to drive without having to be “old truck savvy”. If you have any questions, please ask them prior to placing your bid. If you are local, or know someone who is, please consider coming to see the truck in person. Different things are important to different people, and while I have tried to describe all important aspects of the vehicle, it's impossible to cover every last detail. Terms of Sale Buyer will be responsible for either having the vehicle shipped, or picking it up in person. I will sell to US buyers only! I expect a $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of the end of auction. Payment in full is due within 5 days of the end of auction, no exceptions. I will accept cash or cashier's check for balance of payment. If picking up the vehicle in person within the 5 days, I will require the balance due in cash at that time. Please only bid if you are willing to honor it! I know this doesn't need to be explained to most of you, but with all the new users something has to be said. Ebay is not a game, it costs money to list things here, please don't waste my time and money. Thank you!
