Vehicle Detail
For sale, original Montana ranch truck high desert survivor 66 F-100 pickup with just the right barn find patina that everyone is looking for. A one owner truck till a co-worker got it out of the estate last year and subsequently sold it to me. This was a wealthy rancher's "Sunday" truck, used for trips to town and not for hard ranch use. Very special truck with big V8/posi rear, bright red and white paint, fancy Custom Cab trim, and factory ordered brush guard and rare side tool box. Still has the original spare tire and carrier. Good running and driving ready-to-use as is truck right now for trips to Home Depot and taking the wife to the Steak and Shake, or a great candidate for a full restoration, or just bolt on some torq thrusts and flowmasters for a rat rod Cars and Coffee truck. I'll do my best to describe it below: Exterior: Very straight, all original as far as I can tell and wearing some great patina. No serious rust or rot issues, just minor rust as shown in pics. This is dry, arid country and we just don't see major rust issues here, there's just no moisture. Will post link to underside pics, while there is rust in cab drop offs (the kind you just POR-15 and forget), the cab mounts, cab corners, and floors all seem to be in good condition. Structurally truck is sound and nothing is concealed with undercoat - it's all there for you to see. Chrome emblems, door handles, grille etc are mint with absolutely no pitting, side chrome moldings have a few dings and scratches as shown. Driver side cab molding went missing at some point and was replaced with an earlier piece. Grille guard is factory/accessory and has been on the truck since new. I figure it's a nice $800 add, because not only are these selling for $400 and up, because it was there the grille is mint and that's another $400 you don't have to spend on a new grille. Also has the original spare tire and under-bed carrier. Glass is good except windshield and that needs replaced. Inside bed is in very good condition owing to light use over the years. Just an honest original truck. Interior: Original and showing some sun damage. Tight truck with no squeaks or rattles. Door close like a bank vault! Ford really had the body quality figured out on these trucks. Original dash pad and door panels have sun cracking as shown, driver seat is original with aftermarket blanket cover, pretty torn up under the cover. Original floor mat in good condition. Headliner is good with aftermarket radio speakers installed (aftermarket radio works). Original steering wheel has a few cracks but shows well. Everything seems to work including gauges, heater, and horn. Ready to use as and enjoy as is. Mechanical: Original 352 big block FE V8, 4 speed, and 3.54 (positraction works great) Dana rear still giving great service. I took the truck to a professional Ford mechanic for full service, tune up and carb rebuild. Starts, runs, drives out well. Everything seems to work and no major issues - engine is smooth as a swiss watch and trans shifts well. Oil pressure is good, no noticeable smoke or leaks. Mechanic pointed out light bearing rattle at first startup (I didn't hear it), typical for a 99k mile FE, but he said it will run a very long time as is and it's not a cause for concern. Ready to use as is for casual duty or upgrade to that hot 390 or 428 with Edelbrock heads if you really want a goer. I've put a few hundred miles on and from what I can tell it's good to go. Front end is tight and brakes work fine, doesn't heat. Tires are in excellent condition with great tread and no cracking, they are studded winter traction type. Overall good strong tight truck! Pricing/Misc: I got a good deal on this rig and you will too. This era F100 is very hard to find, especially clean and straight and in the best factory color combo of that year (red/white), These trucks book a ton, and restored examples command $20k plus, but the very reasonable reserve on this truck under $2500 for quick sale. A similar but not as clean/honest truck just sold on Ebay two weeks ago for $3800. Transport is readily available and probably cheaper than fixing heavy rust on a Midwest or East Coast truck. Title is clear and in my name. GOOD LUCK! Keep in mind that with all cars and trucks, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON. Expect to have the truck shipped. It runs fine, but it' hasn't been completely gone through. Probably unreasonable to expect to fly out here and drive it long distance home.
