Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Hi, all- Available here is my 1972 Fiat 130 Coupe. If you are looking at this auction, chances are that you already have some knowledge about this unusual model. These were never sold in North America, and about 4,500 were made over their entire production run. I imported mine from England about 5 years ago, and for most of that time it's been in storage, with the occasional drive around town. I've been steadily reducing the size of my oddball collection of cars over the summer, and have decided to let this one go as well. If you're looking for the perfect car, this one isn't it. However with a few basic mechanical repairs, and a bit of cosmetic work, it should be a very nice example of a rather rare car. Here are some details. It is in running and driving condition, with roughly 125,000km (about 80,000 miles). I have never driven it any great distance, and due to the rarity of stateside parts, I recommend trailering or shipping it to its final destination if you don't live nearby. I rebuilt the carburetor a few years ago, but noticed recently that it occasionally stalls at idle when warm, or becomes stubborn to start, and may need some adjustment. It's always a bit hard to start when cold, but that seems to be a common trait with the 130. I've replaced the timing belt and other belts, as well as the coolant hoses and most other hoses. I had the brakes rebuilt when I bought the car and they work fine. I've also had the wheel bearings replaced, along with the U-joints, and unfortunately that has introduced a vibration in the driveline, leading me to believe that one of the components was bad, or badly installed. The tires are virtually new, and the wheels are Ferrari variants of same offset that I had cleaned up by a local wheel restorer. Its original 14" wheels will be made available to the winning bidder at no cost if they would like them. I've also had the tank sealed, but have not replaced the fuel pump, which I think may be on its way out. The air conditioning doesn't work, and several of the cables controlling the vent doors will need to be serviced. Finally, I removed the helper spring on the clutch pedal while working on something under the dash, and lost it in a house move, so the clutch pedal effort is rather high. The body is solid, and the paint is "okay" at a distance but has flaws all over. Perhaps the biggest body issue is the windows. The previous owner replaced the wire-based regulators with track-based units from another car, they don't operate smoothly at all. I suspect they would work more correctly with the installation of new felt. On a positive note, the windshield was replaced with a new one last year. The interior is complete, but as with the paint, has flaws. Please see photos for an impression. Lamps and radio work, and there are a couple of non-operational gauges. The 130 is located near Royal Oak, Michigan with free/clear Michigan title, and is being offered in as-is condition, available worldwide, and with a reserve price. It's also being listed on Craigslist, and reserve the option to end the auction early if it sells locally first. The Buy-It-Now price leaves plenty of room to make improvements, yet is less than what it would likely cost to import one of similar completeness today. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you have about the car. You're thinking about spending a lot of money, and no question is a crazy one. Well, maybe a few are crazy. . . Thanks for considering my car!
