2010 BACKDRAFT (1965 SHELBY) OVERVIEW: The Backdraft Roadster is not a kit, it is a hand crafted replica of the infamous British roadster with an American v8 that captured every car lovers heart in 1965. It combines the historic looks of the original with the modern performance underpinnings of a BMW 3 series. FEATURES BODY: The body is reinforced at strategic points for extra strength. All the hanging components are double skinned to add extra strength to the overall structure. PAINT WORK: After meticulous preparation the body shell is painted using PPG paint. The final stage of the paint work is completed with the application of several layers of clear coat to ensure a long life for your investment. CHASSIS: The chassis is constructed from the top grade 2 x 4 rectangular steel tubing. The chassis is reinforced with steel plates in several areas to add strength to high stress areas. The final phase of the chassis building is completed when it is powder coated. This adds to the overall appearance and also helps to protect it from the environment, to help ensure a long life for your investment. STEERING: The car comes standard with a rack and pinion type steering system FRONT SUSPENSION: The font suspension has cast lower wishbones with a coil over strut. We also use a stabilizer bar which adds to the overall handling of the car. REAR SUSPENSION: The car utilizes a full I.R.S (Independent, Rear, Suspension) system, with a centrally guided multi-link, 2 track control arms and one longitudinal arm. The rear suspension is fully adjustable and features polyurethane bushings. BRAKES: The car features power assisted brakes with discs on all four corners. With ventilated discs in the front and solid discs in the rear. WHEELS: The wheels are a "Halibrand" style 17" aluminum bolt on piece. 17" Knock-Off s INTERIOR: The cockpit is fully carpeted with a high grade carpet. Floor mats with bound edges and embroidered Backdraft Racing logos are a standard feature. The seats are upholstered in top quality leather. The drivers side seat features and adjustable slider. The interior of the car is not only fully functional, but it is also very comfortable and can accommodate a "taller" driver still sit below the windshield. The interior is completed with a wood rim steering, self cancelling turn signal and a full compliment of gauges. ROLL BAR: Stainless steel driver side roll bar, 2 piece frame mounted. GENERAL: The crate car comes fitted with an aluminum radiator with cooling fan which is thermostatically controlled. The radiator cooling lines are custom made and come supplied in stainless steel. The hood has stainless rivets pre-fitted for authenticity. A tunnel mounted park brake lever is fitted as standard equipment and comes finished with an aluminum handle. The crate car also comes standard with stainless steel windshield wipers, wind wings and sun visors. The engine compartment is clad in stainless steel to compliment the car and deflect the hear from the foot boxes. ENGINE: Fresh 1994 351 W Roller.
