Vehicle Detail
Here we have one of the most unique and fun little cars on the planet to drive around in. It NEVER fails to get thumbs up's, waves and pictures taken EVERYTIME it is driven. It has become kind of a celebrity here in Lake Havasu. We've taken it to San Diego, Idaho, Las Vegas and several other places to show it. We get followed and asked all kinds of questions where ever we go. People want to take pictures of it, even the Wiener Mobile flagged me down and had to take pictures when they were here a couple years ago.My wife drives this car to work and around town quite a bit, every day when the temp is below 105. She takes it to the grocery store, the post office etc. It is an icon in Lake Havasu. We have put 12k miles on the car since restoration. This car was voted America's Sweetest Lemon through Hagerty Classic Car Insurance Company and took over one third of the entire vote across the country! Haggerty shipped the car to Monterey, California for Classic Car Week and we were the hit of the town of Monterey that week. People were taking pictures of us left and right all week. We valet parked this car at Pebble Beach Lodge! The car made the papers here and in Monterey as well as the NEW YORK TIMES, it has been on several television shows and has been a blast to own and drive. If you own a taxi company or any business for that matter it is a real head turner and attention getter. We've been asked by a couple local businesses to park the car out front of their business for the afternoon and it really made a difference in the foot traffic while it was there. This is the ultimate rolling advertising piece for anyone looking to promote a business anywhere. We drove it up and down the Strip in Las Vegas and made a real splash with the people out walking not to mention the "real" taxi's checking us out. We've had the car for over six years and it's come time to let someone else have the attention and the fun of seeing the people point and laugh and take pictures of their kids or themselves next to it. There is no where you can go with this and NOT get over run with people wanting a closer look or to just take pictures and smile. The car has been a daily driver and shows wear and tear from that daily use. There are nicks and chips in the paint. The interior is very nice as a matter of fact it is much nicer than what Subaru put in them originally. I have pictures of the restoration in every stage, if you want to see any of the steps, ask and I will post whatever you want to see. The drivetrain is original and the only modification is the addition of a Chrome GM one wire alternator to help with night driving and powering the stereo. The dimmer switch does not work, as do most of these cars. So we've driven all of the miles with just dim lights and have not had a problem. The top light is a "real" taxi light as are the stripes. The top light is battery operated led lights. We usually only turn it on at car shows. I want to say again that this car is NOT a show car, it is a cute little car that people love to look at and have their picture taken with. If you take it to a car show, be prepared to answer a whole lot of questions and take pictures of people with their cameras. It has no warranty and is sold as is. Buyer is responsible for pick up and or shipping. I will assist with loading as much as possible. The car weighs in at 925 pounds and has a top speed of around 60 mph, depending on the grade and wind. On flat level it will get around 40 mpg all day in town, up hill kills the miles per gallon quickly. The car stands right at 51" tall and is right at 51" wide and is just under 9' total length. The tires are recent steel belted radials with portawall white walls. All service has been done to date. Since it is two stroke there is no oil change required just check the trans once or twice a year. There are a couple pictures of what the car looked like when I started on it and a couple during the build process. We ask for a Pay Pal deposit of $500.00 with the balance payable in cash on pick up.On Jul-14-14 at 19:19:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone has asked if this car could be driven to Salt Lake City from Lake Havasu City. I guess I need to say that this is a tiny little two cylinder 25 Horse Power two stroke engine. The car is capable of making 60 MPH on a flat level with the right conditions. This car has been driven daily in and around town, though it is able to make the occasional jump onto the 95 and take a run out to Wal Mart or to the south side. This car was and is NOT a daily commuter car for today's suburban traffic. Yes, we drove it all over Las Vegas and up and down the Strip, but we did not use it for daily transportation in that kind of an environment. We use it daily in Lake Havasu City, three or four miles to and from work twice a day or out to the mall and back. Can it be driven to Salt Lake City? I am sure it's feasible, but why would you want to subject yourself to that kind of abuse? There is NO air conditioning, no power anything. It is noisey and smells of two stroke oil. This car smokes, it is two stroke just like a snow mobile or a jet ski. It is TINY and gets pushed around by the wind and trucks passing on the highway, loads of fun when you're cruisin' and just foolin' around, but a serious drive from here to LA, NO WAY. All of the shows we have taken it to, it has gone on a trailer, unloaded and driven around that area and then put back on the trailer to go home. I have to make sure EVERYONE knows what they are looking at and understand that it is NOT meant for cross country travel. Just sayin'
