Vehicle Detail

This is a 1997 Mazda Miata. I bought it a few months ago with the idea of tearing it down and rebuilding it with my 13 y/o Son. the truth is that I can't bring myself to tear down a perfectly good running car. It didn't get used at all during the winter, to keep the salt off of it. Since the weather has turned I've started to drive it now and then. I like the car...it's a Miata, what's not to like...but I just have decided I'd rather not tear down and as such can't get clearance from my wife to have an EXTRA car around. This '97 has 201,000 miles on it. It'll go up a little, as I'm driving it on nice days. Yes, the engine is a little tired and you can tell it's not new. It burns a little oil, but nothing out of the ordinary for a high mileage 1.8L. The car runs and drives fine. Clutch is good, trans shifts fine. I've driven it too and from work, 5 miles each way, numerous times and it's been great. Took on some nice twisty roads, and it's a blast, as it should be. Check engine light is cycling on and off. I haven't plugged it in to get the code, but I'd bet it's emissions related. Interior is OK. The drivers seat has a tear in it, center console is broken, shifter boot is worn. Dash is in good shape. I have no idea if a/c works, and don't really care...it's a convertible. Heat works. It has power steering and power windows (windows are slow, but both work). Brakes are strong. Suspension is in good shape, the car was used for a few track days last summer. The top is in good condition, no rips and the rear window is clear. It's a bit dirty, but is solid. Body is in decent shape, no huge dents, or major flaws. Rust is less than most first gen Miatas. Rear valance panel (between tail lights) is black I have no idea what happened to it or why it was changed. I really do like it, but just am attached to my '90. Please don't nitpick. It does have 200,000 miles on it, so don't expect a new car. It's a good driver and something to have fun with, or play on the track or use as a donor. I'm not asking top dollar for it. I have the title free and clear.
