We have performed a very thorough reconditioning/restoration while respecting it's impressive originality. This car was bought new and imported by a silicon valley engineer, and has stayed in California it's entire life. This 200t reflects a lifetime of proper care and respect by a true Mercedes enthusiast. It is truly a pleasure to drive, and the inline 4 cylinder makes for a wonderful motoring experience. This car was always garaged. The paint is clean, smooth and shines like brand new. There are a few very minor blemishes from the last 30 years, but the overall impression is spectacular. No rust problems whatsoever. Clean and clear California title. Mechanical With only 178k miles, the venerable 2.0 litre m104 carbureted 4 cylinder Engine starts effortlessly, hot or cold and reflects years of proper maintenance and responsible ownership. No smoke at start-up, blow-by or oil leaks. Has factory A/C unit which has been converted to r134a and blows cold. Heater/defrost functions work perfectly. We have just performed a major service (less than 200 miles) with new OEM fuel filter, oil change (Mobil 15w30) and new Mann Oil Filter and Air Filter. Brand new OEM rear suspension hydraulic accumulators. New Pagid Brake pads all the way around. The engine runs smooth delivers more than adequate power ensuring a proper driving experience. Automatic Transmission has been serviced with new fluid, filter and gasket. Shifts are crisp and on time with no slipping. Very good p195/70r14 Tires on factory 14x6 steel wheels with hubcaps. Ready to be driven anywhere. Interior Original green cloth interior is in fine condition showing only minimal signs of use over the last 3 decades. Because this car was fortunate enough to be owned by a responsible non-smoking owner that always garaged it, the upholstery is in beautiful shape with very little wear as others of this era display. The car smells fresh and clean. The upholstery is meticulous and has been properly conditioned. Drivers seat has been completely rebuilt with new padding and factory spring supports from the 560 sel. No broken springs were found on the frame. Adjustments are effortless and tracks have been cleaned and lubricated. 70/30 split rear bench is perfect. Carpet is in great shape with no rips or cigarette burns. There is only slight evidence of wear on the rear cargo area, specifically the spare tire cover. Optional rear cargo anchors have been removed and powder-coated in the proper satin black finish. Has very rare double cargo roller which is in excellent condition. No 3rd row seating. The dash pad has only very minor splits from the California sun, but still shows very well. Has speakers mounted in the front door panels. Perfect headliner. Vacuum operated door locks function properly, even after sitting for a few days. All gauges, clock, switches work as normal. Has front power windows and manual rears as found on many European spec cars of this vintage. Factory toolkit, 1st aid kit and safety triangle in excellent shape. ExteriorThe original classic white (classicweiss) code 737g glasurit enamel paint shines beautifully and has always been properly cleaned and waxed. The body is straight and has zero rust issues. All chrome and trim is present and in fine condition. Roof mounted luggage rack shows virtually no signs of use. Rubber trim and door seals are all in good condition. European spec bumpers and headlights are in excellent shape. Manual sunroof opens and closes properly with no leaks. Brand new factory reverse and fog lamp marker on rear bumper.
