Because I have a long term knowledge of BMW motorcycles, and because I know this particular bike better than anyone else, the family of one of my best friends and late riding buddies has asked me to list this motorcycle on eBay on their behalf. My friend was not a mechanic and sought out others with the skills and knowledge to perform the required maintenance that has kept this bike in outstanding mechanical condition. I have never known anyone that was as particular as he was when it came to keeping the appearance of his cars and bike in pristine condition. This was his first and only BMW and he was extremely protective in the care of the bike, which is obvious from its almost new condition. From my knowledge, the bike has never been abused in any way. The engine protection bars have never made contact to the ground, the side bags are stunning and any imperfections in the paintwork are so tiny that they are barely visable to the naked eye. The condition of the bike is just about as good as a bike can be to have any miles on the odometer. Anytime that the bike was not being used, it stayed under a dust cover parked in a closed, dry basement/garage which was at the ground level of the back of his home, where there was very little variation in temperature. Although he was the second owner, he purchased the bike when it was almost new from the original owner, who discovered that he had bought a toy that he was lacking the skills to ride comfortably. The only imperfection is shown in the photographs and looks to be some kind of imprinting on the rear seat cover, perhaps caused from some kind of strap. The angle of light across the seat of the bike determines the noticeability, which was present when my friend bought the motorcycle. This bike is factory equipped with cruise control, chrome muffler, ESA, heated seats and grips, and the low operator's seat to overcome the problem of those with shorter inseams. Added options are stainless steel Touratech engine protection bars, HVMP stainless bar ends, Throttle Rocker Assist, and the very functional Cee Bailey windshield along with the Cee Bailey headlight protector. The original windshield is also included with the sale of the bike in case you would like to have it. The last service on the bike was performed at 26,180 miles and included engine oil and filter , transmission change, and final drive change. The engine received Mobil 1 motorcycle oil while the other components got Mobil synthetic gear oil. The spark plugs were replaced along with the air filter and the complete brake system was flushed per BMW instructions. The throttle bodies were also syncronized. The valves did not require adjustment. Over the last few months, I have personally taken the bike out to be exercised on 20-mile minimum trips to make sure that the bike remains roadworthy. The only alteration made to the bike was to have 16 ga. wire run directly to the stock outlet on the upper left side of the fairing so that he could use his battery charger and electric heated jacket without taking a chance of damaging the delicate stock wiring of the bike. The outlet is fused at the battery for safety. A new battery was installed in the bike just last month so the bike is "good to go" with no known issues of any kind. As an acting seller for the family, I will deal with any questions that you have with honesty, and in return, I ask that you only bid on the bike if you are serious about becoming the new owner. I welcome any questions that you might have. If you are the winner of the auction and would like to test ride the bike, bring cash and be willing to accept that the bike has been purchased by you, if damage occurs during the test ride.
