Vehicle Detail
This is a no reserve auction and this car will sell. I purchased this beauty 18 months ago. I drove it home, parked it in the garage where it sat, never driven as I awaited for the summer months to arrive. My plans were to drive it to car shows and cruise around, but my intention when buying it was to swap the engine and tranny with a modern V8 and Automatic transmission. I never did that before and I thought it would be a great thing to do in retirement at my leisure. I now see that would be a mistake because a lot of care was put into the engine and it would be better to keep it as original as I could. Swapping drive trains is what I had in mind while buying it, but my health got in the way of my intentions. So with that said, someone else will now enjoy owning it and tinkering with it. The people who restored it to it's present condition did a nice job, but in no way would I consider it show car quality and neither should you expect it to be one. It has a few scratches, but no dents and the body is super strait. I would characterize it as a special interest car in solid shape. Underneath you will find it solid and clean. The trunk is in excellent shape as well as the condition of the interior. Upgraded modern day gages in the dash are a nice touch. The engine compartment is very clean and the electrical system was converted over to 12 volt. The seating is gorgeous and you are riding much higher than present cars. It is a no brainer getting in and out of the car or into the rear seating, even with my bad back. There are dual carburetors that are period correct for it's era. Dual exhaust give it a Chevy rumble and roar. The heater core is in but it's hoses are not connected. The wipers do not work. The glass and chrome are in excellent shape and the tires are brand new Cokers. There are the typical squeaks, rattles, groans and noises that you would expect to hear from a car that is 73 years old. The clear Ohio Title declared that there was 46,360 miles on the car at time of sale when I bought it. The upgraded retro speedometer gage currently says 718 miles. I assume that is all the miles that were driven since its restoration. So, I will have to assume that combining the 46,360 and the 47 miles I put on it to drive it home, it now has 46,407 miles on it with the odometer currently reading 718 miles. I cannot vouch for the actual mileage of the vehicle, so if this is a sticking point for you, you are now aware of everything I am aware of. It wasn't an issue with me. When it comes to these cars from that era, mileage should not be a concern or the number one consideration. I will declare 46,407 miles when we transfer ownership and that it has a replaced speedometer/odometer that now reads 718. Just a history lesson to all of you young whippersnappers out there, this car was made right before WWII when we went to war with the Japanese, Germans and Italians and when domestic car sales was stopped to concentrate supplying the war effort. All the effort went into producing cars and trucks for the war effort. I wonder where this car was and who was driving it during those dark and scary years? I will work with your car hauling company to get it shipped to you in great shape. I will expect a deposit of $500 paid via PayPal ONLY for this amount at the close of auction and the balance paid ONLY by money order, wire transfer to my bank account or certified bank check that is PRE-CLEARED and DEPOSITED in my bank account before taking possession. Do not use PayPal for paying the balance. If you wish to forego the hassle on shipping day as would I, I would recommend that a wire transfer to my bank be done ahead of delivery day so that I can have the title notarized and ready for you waiting to be picked up before you come to get it. If not, then we will get the title notarized into your name at my bank the day you get here during normal banking hours. No cash, no exceptions! You must take delivery of the car no later than TUE July 15, or make other arrangements with me BEFORE you bid that will only be convenient to my busy schedule at a later date as long as the car is PAID IN FULL. I don't want for you or myself to be disappointed. Happy bidding and have fun with this car!
