Vehicle Detail
Sold in Italy on 03/29/1957 (documented), this is a fairly rare European Model 1957 Gilera 150 Sport, of which very few were ever sold in the U.S. This is one of the first Gilera 150 Sport models with the chrome muffler. Earlier versions had the cast aluminum muffler. This bike is very near complete and correct, with some surface corrosion and patina. Tank still has the original factory paint and gas cap. The wheels are the original factory aluminum rims with new zinc-plated spokes. The Gilera front fender "pedestrian slicer" is factory original. New parts include the complete and hard-to-find exhaust system (header and silencer), seat cover, headlight rim, tail light, chain, and petcocks. New Gilera handlebar grips. New Gilera foot peg and shifter rubbers. New hard-to-find 2.50 x 19 tires. The speedometer is brand new, but the inner speedo cable is broken. Actual mileage is UNKNOWN. 150cc overhead valve 4 stroke, 4 speed. Was serviced by the "Garage Company" in 2009 and was running and riding well before being put into storage shortly thereafter (has not been started or ridden since December 2009). I have not made an attempt to start it. The fuel was drained before storing and the battery is dead. Sold as-is. Clear California title in my name, and currently registered with the CA DMV as "Non-Operational." These vintage Italian motorcycles are becoming more difficult to find, and when they do come up for auction they are either completely restored and cost a small fortune, or they are a rusted or busted up heap. Here's a chance for you to obtain a rare bike to enjoy and ride as-is, restore, or use as a piece of art and display in your office, bar, restaurant, den, man cave, or game room. Giro eligible, you can buy this Gilera for a lot less than it would cost you to acquire and import a similar bike from Europe today. Very fair reserve taking into account what I paid for it and the cost to get to titled and registered. Buyer solely responsible for pick-up, shipping, or transport. Non-refundable $500.00 deposit to be paid via paypal within 5 days of auction's end. Thanks for looking!
