Vehicle Detail
2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege Production number 1250 of 2750. Hello and thank you for your interest in my restored and upgraded Mazdaspeed Protege! I purchased the car January of 2010 from a dealer to drive it to and from work and college. I fell in love with it when I first saw it and tied the knot after the test drive :D. I have been enjoying this beast for the past few years and sadly it is time to let it go. This has been my weekend/project car for the last year after I bought my Dodge Magnum. I am selling this car because I made a dramatic career switch and can't afford to have two cars and the Magnum suits my needs better. When I bought it there was already a lot of work done to it and I have done a whole lot more. I have spent over $15,000 on it not including original purchase price. Highlights include:Jasper crate bottom up remanufactured engine and new Garrett GT28RS (Disco Potato) ball bearing turbo both professionally installed with only 6,397 miles on them now! ($6000)Quaife limited slip differential which eliminated the torque steer and transformed the way the car handles (point the steering wheel, give it gas and it pulls you around the corner). ($1200)Innovate motorsports LM-2 (Data logger/OBD-II/air fuel ratio) ($500) This can be expanded with the LMA-3 Multi-sensor Device (AuxBox) (Not included) to log other stats and g-force to calculate horsepower and torque.AEM Tru Boost gauge/controller ($300)Split Second PSC-1 programmable signal calibrator for tuning the air fuel ratio. ($300)Upgraded brakes that are solid as a rock (slotted rotors, high performance pads and stainless steel lines at all four corners). ($500)A custom high quality stereo that I designed and built for sound quality. ($3000)A wicked, gnarly, deep, growling exhaust note (WRX ish). ($800) Mechanical parts list:Lowering springs(brand unknown)4 wheel camber kitHawk HPS PadsPower Slot Slotted rotorsTechna-Fit blue Stainless steel brake linesNew front A arms w/ball jointsFront passenger side CV axle (whole axle was cheaper than the ABS ring)General G-Max A/S tires(front tread great, rear getting low)SLS side engine mountAWR: transmission, bottom, and firewall mountsFidanza Aluminum FlywheelACT HD Clutch w/street disc (feels firm but comfortable for daily driving)Quaife Helical LSD w/ARP bolts (my favorite mechanical upgrade on the car)Techna-Fit blue stainless steel clutch linePerrin short shifterJasper remanufactured engineGT28RS TurboPerrin fuel railAftermarket Cast intake manifoldAftermarket exhaust headerInjen cold air intake w/ AEM dryflow filter and AEM water repellant pre-filterTurbo hoses aluminum hardpipesGreddy BOVTurbo XS recirculating valvePerrin 3" catless exhaust to 4" tip(also my fav part of car)Aftermarket J pipeNew starterNew beltsNew power steering pumpVacuum line distribution blockSilicone vacuum lines Electrical/Stereo: Optima Yellow top batteryKicker (battery terminals, fuse blocks and distribution blocks)0Ga "big 3" grounds and alternator wire upgrade140A alternatorEclipse XA1200 sub ampEclipse XA4200 4ch ampEclipse SW6210 12" subwooferPrecision Power 355cs speakersPioneer Premier DEH-980BT Headunit (bluetooth, cd, aux, auto EQ & TA)Monster and Kicker RCA'sTributaries 14 Ga speaker wireDynamat and Ballistic sound deadeningcarpet paddingCustom sub box and amp rackCustom tweeter podsCustom dash with gauge podsNew coil packsAEM Tru boost controller/gaugeSplit Sec air/fuel map programmer PSC-1Innovate LM-2 wideband/data logger/obd2 readerNew transmission switches (reverse, neutral) Other details: Tag Expires Dec 31 2014 Delaware. Currently the car drives great with the exception of 1 issue. While under moderate to full throttle and at 54-5500rpm and boost it seems to buck or hiccup. I believe this can be solved through tuning the air/fuel ratio with the PSC-1. However it is throwing the P0300 and P0335 codes which point to a crankshaft position sensor problem. I have no time or money to troubleshoot or fix that. I have the PSC-1 tuned to run the car rich until you tune it yourself (instructions included) or have a professional tune it. Other than that the new turbo spools up fast and pulls strong you just can't floor it until it is tuned and that issue is fixed. I posted a video on Youtube showing the car in more detail including stereo and exhaust. Copy and paste the link: http://youtu.be/1xee4RakIhc Also Including: The manuals from the majority of the aftermarket parts including all the tuning related equipment and some service manuals. Pre-cut 20% tint for all windows. Assorted accessories/spare parts. I will provide technical support through email or phone for 30 days after I have received payment and provided that you are polite and friendly. This is a huge value since I know every square inch of the car.
