Vehicle Detail
First I am not a car dealer, second I have perfect feedback and want to keep it that way. I will do my absolute best to describe this truck, the good, bad, and ugly. If you have question ASK BEFORE YOU BID! I bought this truck from Brazos County Texas (College Station) it is a one owner truck and I can prove it. This truck is RARE in Texas because it is a 4X4 AND it has the 5.4 engine. 99.9 percent of our government trucks of this age were 2WD 4.6 trucks. This was used in the road and bridge department. The good news about that is they have a full equipment maintenance shop, with full time mechanics, and no real budget for maintenance. So these trucks get anything they need, the oil is changed every 3K, etc. The bad is that the truck has been driven down a lot of construction roads. The frame and undercarriage has lost most of its paint. There is some surface rust on the under carriage, but remember this is a dry country Texas truck, no salt, no snow, no ice, no sea water, etc. There is ZERO rot on this truck. I bought the truck to use on my place in New Mexico. I am a perfectionist so I spent A LOT of money getting it ready to go up there. At least 30 hours of detailing. This truck was not run through the $5 car wash and called good. Governments spend a lot on maintenance, but little on cosmetics, so it needed a real through cleaning (seats out, floor mats out, 4 hours with a steam cleaner, buffing, waxing, etc.). One of the problems I new about when I bought it was a leaking heater core. This is a BIG job on this era Ford. We went back with a Motorcraft core, Motorcraft blend door, and fresh Motorcraft coolant. Another was the left cat that was rattling. We replaced that with a CA spec. Magnaflow. Another was a right side exhaust manifold was leaking. Replaced using an all new Motorcraft manifold, studs, nuts, gaskets, etc. The A/C had a leak. We didn't just charge it and I won't try to convince you that's all it needs (That is the biggest load of car selling B.S. BTW). Anyway we replaced both leaking schrader valves and recharged. A/C is ice cold 38 degrees, no detectable leaks, working good. Stereo buttons were worn out and broken. Replaced with an NOS unit. Seat was worn out. Replaced with a very RARE 60/40 split seat w/ center console. Now the driver and the passenger don't have to slide forward together. These were in a few of the more optioned standard cabs and are super hard to find used. This one is really in great shape other the a single cigarette burn. We steam cleaned the entire seat before install, NO smoke smell. Beggars can't be choosers looking for these seats, I felt lucky to find one the right color. This is a 7700 truck or light duty F250. I have never driven one of these before, but really I like them. You get a heavy duty 4R100 transmission, heavy duty rear end (3.73 LS), etc. in a half ton chassis that rides much better than a super duty F250. Great setup if you have some towing, but don't want to ride around in a 250-350 all day. The body is mostly straight clean and presentable and that was the goal for this truck. It is a work truck, so if you want to get your face 6 inches from every panel and look for flaws you will find many. The tailgate is the worst with a little paint peeling, a scratch, and a couple of minor dents. There is also a small golf ball size dent in the right front fender. The hood and roof have some real minor hail. There are some rock chips, dings, etc. BUT this truck doesn't look bad at all. It is very clean, shiny, shows well, my wife is happy to ride around in it, etc. It would be just fine to park out front of a nice house or take to a customers job site. The bed is excellent with only a couple of prior bolt holes in the bottom, no gooseneck, heavy damage, etc. I looked as this truck very carefully from every angle, I could find no evidence it has ever been wrecked or had a body panel replaced. It has had some paint work though, (doors repainted over the logo areas and right bedside). If you find evidence to the contrary during your inspection, I will refund your money no questions asked. Glass is all original and no cracks, rock chips, etc. The best thing. This truck drives great. The steering is just like new tight with no pulling or wandering, no rattles, no squeaks, no noises, no air leaks, A/C blows cold, stereo works, no wobbles, lights all work (even the spot light), spare tire is good (jack and tools present), owners manual is there. The truck is all stock, no mods, cut wiring, or other BS. The tires are a real good matched set of E rated Firestone AT's (about 60-70 percent) and wearing evenly. Everyone who drives it describes it as rock solid. I am selling it because my plans for my New Mexico property have changed and I just have too many vehicles. I have owned over a 100 trucks in my life and I feel I know a good one. I consider this a good one and I would be willing to drive it anywhere. Not having a vehicle in that condition is not having a vehicle IMO. If I was asked what else I might do? Probably put a set of shocks on it in the near future, I noticed the originals are just starting to leak. Just passed the Texas emissions test, zero problems. Also new plates and registration for Texas if that helps. Title is clean, no liens, and in my name. If you want to talk about it, drop me a note with your number and I'll be happy to call you back. I want a $500 deposit through Paypal within 24 hours if you buy it, the remainder MUST be paid in Cash, or wire transfer ONLY before delivery. I have already been burned by some ebayers and I can't keep doing that. If you come look at it and don't like it I will refund 100% of your money, no questions, no arguments. If you take it or have it shipped, it is yours, AS IS, NO WARRANTY, it is a 150K mile vehicle after all. I strive to be honest and fair about these things, let's try to make this positive for everyone. Also, the diesel tank and toolbox are the not in the truck as shown in the first picture. UPDATE: WELL I GUESS I WAS TOO CRITICAL IN MY DESCRIPTION. HERE ARE SOME MORE PHOTOS SHOWING HOW NICE THE EXTERIOR IS. THANKS FOR LOOKING.
