For Sale- This 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray is in its original colors of tuxedo black (one of 1,897 in Tuxedo Black for ’64) with a black interior and white convertible top. This black beauty also features a matching black hardtop, but it is not original to the car. This beautiful Corvette is in very original condition throughout. The interior, convertible top, carpets, gauges, and glass are completely original. This Corvette is a great candidate for a Resto-Mod rebuild. Engine casting #3782870; Date cast #E74; Engine code stamp F0609RC. The carburetor is the factory-installed Carter WCFB four-barrel with intake cast #3844457 and date cast #F64. The VIN stamping for the 4 speed transmission is S122249 but the metal tag reads 3857580; The main case casting is #3851325 but the tail shaft casting is #3857584. This Corvette has no power accessories. The convertible top, steering, brakes, widows and locks are manually operated. The “Production Options” on this Corvette include: U81 Positraction, M20 4speed Manual Transmission, T86 Backup Lamps, U69 Am/Fm Radio, A02 Soft Ray Tinted Glass. Originally codenamed XP-87, the Corvette Sting Ray (C2 or “Mid-Year”) is a design icon and recognized worldwide as one of the most desirable automobile designs of the 20th century. Art Center College of Design alumnus Peter Brock was 19 years old when he joined GM and sketched many of the original drawings for the XP-87. Peter also designed the legendary Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe among his many other automotive accomplishments. Mr. Brock has graciously signed the passenger side sun visor of this beautiful Sting Ray. This beautiful Corvette has always been a driver. She starts easily, runs good but pulls to the right, shifts well but there’s a clunk from a u-joint, and stops very well (for drum brakes!). She is also registered, insured and garaged. The title is clear and the "pink slip" awaits her new owner. After fifty years and several well-intentioned owners, this gorgeous car does have some needs- The original frame on this Corvette has rust. The frame should be REPLACED. The right front fender has been damaged and repaired. The left front fender is cracking near the cowl. The rubber suspension bushings are dry and worn. The body mount rubbers are worn and cracked. The right rear quarter panel has been damaged and repaired. There is a small dent in the windshield molding and the window rubber is cracked. The paint has several minor imperfections, cracks and chips. The odometer currently reads 31,691 miles but does not work. The actual miles are unknown. The original convertible top has a small patched area. The original jack and spare are no longer with the car. The original clock, ammeter, and Am/Fm Stereo Radio are not working.
