Vehicle Detail

Here's the edit to this ad: The truck was originally for sale a couple months ago, and at the time, we decided to keep it. Since then we decided to purchase a new 2014 vehicle, and we think it ought to be worth more than the $3500 they offered for it! So, before this truck gets traded in at the dealership for them to raise the price on, we're making it available to the best offer we receive that leaves us with a larger cash downpayment than the trade in credit! Other than that, the mileage is still between 134,000 and 135,000 and nothing further has been done to the truck in the way of repairs or work beyond the below description: This is a great truck with a clean title. I've tried to cover anything I could think of below, but ask your questions early and often, and don't be afraid to make offers that's what the button is there for! I bought it a couple years back and have, from time to time, had a good bit of work done. When I fix a system in any of my vehicles I pretty much go top to bottom so I do not have to touch it again, something to keep in mind as far as what has been done or purchased for the truck. I started doing that to this one, but did not go through all of them yet. Its been in Georgia since new to the best of my knowledge, and the previous owner before me had it since the 1970s. Although the truck itself has 133k on it, due to age the tag office wrote the title as mileage exempt on the title. Specs: SWB fleetside truck, Bench Seat, Silverado Trim, factory rallyes, a/c equipped but locked compressor, manual windows/locks, factory gauge package, 350 4bbl engine, th350 automatic trans, 12 bolt rear end, original bed rails and sport mirrors. Body: Black paint was redone to original color in the 1990s, shows nice shine and is very presentable but does have some scratches small chips, dings etc throughout. When repainted, it had bodywork done to the lower fenders by the tires, at least driver cab corner (probably both) and behind rear tires on one side (again probably both). This repair work was done at least in part with filler and although it is presentable, some bubbling is apparent when looking closely at it. Could be addressed with metal patch panels and repainted without a need to respray the whole truck if that's the direction you wanted to go according to the body shop or enjoy it as it sits. Floors in this truck are nice, and has very little rust as described above considering its age and being a truck. However, remember this is a 39 year old un-restored vehicle. It does have chips, scratches, dings, and areas with rust (defined as corrosion due to missing paint, or worse). Some additional pictures are located at the following album... http://s1237.photobucket.com/user/78z28camaro/library/1976%20C10 If you wanted to see any other pictures of various areas on the truck just ask! Interior: Factory red interior plastic shows good color, woodgrain trim nice, door panels/seatbelts/carpet is clean and unstained with some carpet fading, dash pad has a couple cracks like most do but covered with a fabric dashmat cover, and previous owner swapped in a shaft-style radio waaaay back in the day which works, but runs off a speaker behind the seat rather than dash. The seat needs recovering, at least on the lower half, where the pleather/leather/vinyl of the day has cracks in it. Mechanicals: 350v8 and th350 runs and drives. When I bought it, it had a bad exhaust leak at the doughnut gasket, which was repaired along with the exhaust gasket leak. Also had choke on the carb replaced, some new belts/hoses, a new heavy duty battery, both mufflers changed out (system is true duals from manifolds back) valve cover gaskets, and some tuning adjustments made. After fixing all this it became apparent that there was a top end noise that pretty much goes away when warmed up and many times is hard to hear. I've been told by a shop that it is a noisy valve, possibly with a little bit of piston slap. There have never been any metal shavings or debris in the pan at oil changes. Transmission shifts in all its gears. Power steering has a leak that will need to be addressed at some point, either seal at the pump or from a hose. You can fill it and it works until the fluid leaks out, or, you can drive it as a manual steering truck. All other fluids leave an occasional drip here or there as the average 39 year old truck would be expected to. A couple hundred miles ago the truck received complete new brakes professionally done: new vacuum booster, new master cylinder, new hoses, new calipers, new shoes, resurfaced drums, resurfaced rotors, you name it since it had a leak at the master cylinder. Over $900 in completely new brakes (remember as I said above, my approach with my vehicles is replace everything while you're in there so it will be good for years to come.) Tires are new Michelin LTX M/S 2s in 235/75/15 with under 3,000 miles or so on them. We've had the truck on a few 60 mile trips out to Walton County Georgia and it did fine with no ill effects other than the low gas mileage you would expect from a truck of its age. I have accumulated a number of other new in the box parts at considerable expense that are available at additional cost. These include brand new in the box everything needed to redo the a/c system - new Ac Delco compressor, NOS a/c condenser that is modern type for higher efficiency with the newer refrigerants, all new refrigerant and liquid return lines, orifice tube, accumulator/dryer, only re-using the evaporator so the climate box does not need to be opened. This is because the existing compressor clutch is bad, so may as well do the job RIGHT if you're going to do it and never worry again. If you've read this far, I'll answer another question for you: Why am I selling? 1) I really want a different setup in a truck at this point, and it doesn't make sense to tear apart a perfectly good red interior or completely redo a nice black paint job just to have a different scheme on a truck, seems like a waste of money. 2) I really need a bigger truck to haul landscaping materials around with for the yard at the house, and lumber for projects around the house as well, which isnt so nice that if it gets messed up hauling I would feel bad. Finally, 3) I'd rather take the money from this truck to address number 2 above, plus put a larger downpayment on a compact utility tractor for projects on our land.
