Vehicle Detail

Includes: Saddle bags.Heated grips.Custom Rick Mayer heated seat.Electrically adjustable Works Performance shocks (via BMW ESC).Cruise control.On-board computer (BMW's “BC”).Automatic stability control (ASC).Antilock brakes (ABS).RG sliders.Odyssey battery. Riders manual.BMW shop manual DVD.General condition and history: Engine and transmission run fine. No detectable oil consumption. All chassis components and electronics in good condition. No play detectable in bearings for wheels, suspension, or steering components. All bodywork intact and in good condition, except for holes for sliders, and some scratches and scuffs consistent with the mileage. Single owner. Garage kept. Mostly highway miles (commuting and touring). No accidents, never crashed or been laid down. All OEM components and parts, except as noted above. Title in hand. State safety and emission inspection completed last month, expires May 2015. Details on known issues: Worn bearing in final drive rear unit and leaking inboard seals. At 124195 mi, BMW mechanic reported “small amount of play felt at input shaft bearing” and “final drive will not last under continue use [which will result] in bearing failure; continued use of motorcycle in present condition is a safety hazard.” Mechanic estimates $1500 to repair bearing and seals, mostly labor, $2000 to replace entire rear end unit with new part. If I were keeping it, I would replace the rear unit with one from a salvage yard.Rear brake pads contaminated with final drive oil. Rear brake still functions but takes additional pressure for equivalent stopping effect. I recommend replacing pads only after repairing/replacing final drive rear unit. Fuel tank sensor (including reserve indicator) defective. It’s been replaced multiple times, each time lasting about 15,000 mi. Gauge now “locked” to read full at all times and I’m using tripometer and on-board computer mpg to determine the need to fill up (e.g., 47.0mpg = 281 mi to exhaustion). New sensor is about $200. I don’t recommend bothering with it.
