Vehicle Detail
1968 Honda CB450K – Only 2,275 original miles – This is a very rare motorcycle. Everything is original, even the tires. I have spent hours upon hours cleaning and polishing this motorcycle without damaging its original finish. It is rare to find a CB450 with the chrome and rubber tank guards. In 1969 the converted to the less attractive all metal fuel tanks. There is no rust on this motorcycle, not even the exhaust. There is only a slight amount of discoloration to the engine surface due to time. I recently replaced the battery and tuned the bike up, so you can ride it as soon as you buy it. I sincerely doubt there is another CB450K in the US that is in a more pristine condition. This would be a worthy addition to any collector’s museum. Engine 444 cc (27.1 cu in) DOHCstraight-2, two 32 mm (1.3 in) CV carburetors[1] Bore / stroke 70 x 57.8mm[2] Compression ratio 8.5:1[2] Top speed 180 km/h (110 mph) (claimed) Power 43 hp (32 kW) @ 8500 rpm (claimed) Torque 27.6 ft lb @ 8500 rpm (claimed)[1] Ignition type Coil with auto-advance,[2] twin contact breakers[1] Transmission 5 speed Frame type Tubular semi-duplex[1] cradle with single front down-tube[2] Suspension Telescopic front forks with two-way damping, rear swing arm, shock absorbers with adjustable preload[2] Brakes Drum, 8 in (200 mm) twin leading shoe at front[1] Tires 3.25x18 front, 3.50x18 rear[2] Wheelbase 53 in (1,300 mm) Dimensions L 82 in (2,100 mm) W 31 in (790 mm) H 42 in (1,100 mm)[1] Weight 412 lb (187 kg)[1] (dry) Fuel capacity 3.5 gallons (UK Imperial gallons) Oil capacity 5 pints[2] Fuel consumption 65mpg (UK Imperial gallons)[1] Related 12 volt alternator, 12 Amp Hour battery, 30/35 watt headlamp, standard mirrors and comprehensive toolkit[1][2] On Jun-11-14 at 12:57:45 PDT, seller added the following information: It has been brought to my attention by two different CB450K collectors that the gauges on the motorcycle are not original and therefore the mileage cannot be verified. Evidently the original ones were plastic and these are metal, probably off an early 70's model. Based on tread left on the rear tire, the mileage has to be very close. They also pointed out that although minor, the mirrors and grips are not original either. Nothing else has been pointed out to me. In case you are wondering, I have one key for the bike. I do not have the original owner's manual and after careful inspection verified that the tool kit in the side can is not there. I have had the bike in my possession since 1985 and the only thing I have ever changed is the battery which was replaced last fall when I got it running and tuned it up. It has been sitting on a battery tender ever since and therefore, I am confident that the bike will start right up. I started it and drove it around the parking lot this past weekend.
