Vehicle Detail

This is a very rare vehicle. Estimated production for the London Sterling Taxi is 100 units. This is number 55.ebay didn't like the vin for some reason, so i have to enter it here.vin: scrub75l1fd461594Car is for sale locally, so i reserve the right to end this auction in the event of local sale. A bit about this vehicle: London Coach was formed in May, 1984 to fill the need for purpose built cabs left by the 1982 decision by Checker Motors (USA) to discontinue cab production. EPA prototype testing was completed in August, 1985. These specialty vehicles were assembled in the US, using glider kits provided by Carbodies and fitted with 2.3 litre Ford engines and transmissions. Two models were available: The London Taxi and the London Sterling. The Sterling was a limousine version of the taxi. Both were available with or without air conditioning. Production for 1985-1986 was reported as 75 to the NHTSA, and estimated production for 1987 – 75. With the introduction of the Rover Sterling by ARCONA in 1987, London Coach was pressured to discontinue use of the Sterling name. Total production is estimated at 80-100. This cab is all original, minus any meter box or taxi markings/lights. With the exception of the rear beverage bar and tv, everything is there, sheet metal, glass, original motor/trans. This car turns heads like you wouldn’t believe. We would love to restore her, but no time, and we need the space. Title says 52000 miles, odometer reads 42000. Does not compute. The good: Sheetmetal straight. glass good. Car starts right up every time. runs, drives, stops (mostly). All electric windows work. Sunroof seals tight Clear title The bad: Rust is usual spots (pictured) Brake pedal goes down to the floor. Car stops, but it can be nerve wracking. I think they just need to be bled again. No time on our end. Car sometimes takes a while to go into gear (fwd and reverse), especially when she is cold. Once she is moving, she stays in gear. Has small exhaust leak. Not blaring, but louder than she should be. Key missing, starts with an allen key. Ignition is pulled out and hangs down. Easy fix, but no time. Car originally came with a bar in the back and crystal glasses, both of which are nowhere to be found. Ball joints/suspension noisy, needing some love. Vinyl roof needs some attention, or replacement. Interior showing age, carpets faded, rear seat needs help on the bottom cushion (fabric split in many areas). Dash needs new wood panel. Hood hinges are broken. Hood currently just sitting on top of body. Needs new hinges. They are easy though, just bolt right on. Hood not latching on bottom because of hinges. No idea if a/c works. Recharge and find out J please email with any questions. i'm sure i've missed something somewhere.bidders with less than 5 feedbacks or lower than 95% positive feedback please email before bidding, otherwise i will cancel your bid. thanks for looking!
