Vehicle Detail

This auction ends Sunday, June 8th at roughly 9pm, Mountain Time This is a sweetheart of a truck - a 1979 Chevrolet K-30 Silverado Crew Cab with a 5.9 Cummins Turbo Diesel, automatic transmission, and 4 wheel drive.  This is a heavy-duty truck with plenty of power, an overdrive transmission, and 6 brand new tires.  It is reliable and ready for anything. Mechanical - This truck starts easily, runs well, shifts well, and drives down the road nicely.  The engine is a 12 valve Cummins (5.9 liters, 6 cylinders) from a 1991 Dodge with the mechanical Bosch injection pump.  With roughly 83k original miles, it is strong and has a long life ahead of it.  It has been well-maintained, and is internally stock.  The “KDP” dowel pin has been dealt with, and the truck has an intercooler and 4” exhaust from the turbo all the way back.  A very large muffler quiets it down without being too restrictive. The transmission is a 4 speed automatic with overdrive (A518), it was just rebuilt (receipt included) and shifts nicely.  The transfer case is the heavy duty gear-driven NP205 unit.  The front axle is the sought-after Dana 60 with lockout hubs and the rear is a Dana 70, both have 4.10 gears.  The tires are Hankook 285/75R16, load range E, and all six are new.  The rear wheel spacers are steel, not the more common aluminum spacers.  The front suspension has 3” Rancho springs and adjustable Rancho shocks.  The factory sway bar is in place.  The rear suspension has stock springs (with overloads that only come into play when heavily loaded) with 2.5” blocks and non-adjustable Rancho shocks. Exterior - The exterior of the truck is in very nice condition.  It is wearing its original paint, so there is no hidden bodywork of any kind.  All of the fenders, doors, floors, rocker panels, etc are straight and solid with NO RUST.  In fact, there is no rust anywhere on the truck except for two insignificant areas: the small 3-bolt panel inside the drivers wheel well (passenger side is clean), and some pinholes on the very rear of the drivers cab corner (again, passenger side is fine).  The truck has never been wrecked, all body panels are original, etc.  All of the trim is in good condition as well - no dings.  The Omaha Standard flatbed measures 8 feet 7 inches long by 7 feet 10 inches wide, and has removable stake sides and a large toolbox/fuel tank. Interior - The interior of this truck is mostly original and in nice condition for its age.  The seats are original - the rear seat is in good shape, the front needs to be recovered (both currently have denim slipcovers).  The dash pad has some cracks from the sun, and has been covered with a carpet Dashmat.  Carpet, door panels, etc are original and fairly nice.  There is no headliner.  The heater controls work smoothly, and all of the dash lights work.  All factory gauges work properly, as do the boost gauge, Autometer pyrometer, and Autometer tachometer.  A Kenwood CD player with USB and aux inputs is connected to four 6x9 Rockford Fosgate speakers - simple and sounds great. Misc - There is a 9500lb Ramsey winch mounted in the front bumper - this has never been used and is in new condition.  The dual Optima Yellow Top batteries are both new.  There is a stout receiver hitch bolted to the rear of the truck, and it’s wired for a 7-pin trailer connector.  The truck originally had air conditioning, and there is a compressor mounted on the engine, but they are not connected - therefore the A/C is not operational at this time.  The truck has 3 fuel tanks, all are clean and operational.  Both factory tanks are hooked up and the gauge works with either.  The transfer tank mounted in the toolbox is not plumbed to the truck. Overall - This truck is a great driver and a good workhorse.  It has good power.  The steering is crisp and responsive.  The hydroboost brakes work great.  The ride is not harsh, in fact it’s quite pleasant.  The turn signals cancel themselves properly.  The wipers, horn, dash lights, heater, etc all work well.  This truck is ready to work as it sits.
