Vehicle Detail

This is a 2005 Chevy Express Van, VIN: 1GAHG35U951126847 We have had this van since 2008 and bought it with about 100,000 miles on it. We used this as a transport van for our own business in California for 3 years, doing about 500+/- miles per day. Through 2011, this van was subject to weekly inspections and quarterly Highway Patrol Inspections to remain in compliance and to verify good care and safe transport. Taken out of service in June 2010 with 330,000 miles and became our daily driver. We have recently purchased another vehicle with 4 wheel drive as we now live in rural Oregon. Videos on Youtube here: Creator: "robert grosz" VID 20140601 165130 198 VID 20140601 165227 694 & VID 20140601 165531 302 look for the dashboards. Easy to search by cutting and pasting video name or search "Robert grosz". We change the oil about every 4,000-5000 miles and regularly use additives from Lucas and others to protect the engine. It has 396,000 on the original engine AND transmission. It leaks a small amount of oil, but doesn't use any water. Pros: Very serviceable. Has never failed to start. A/C blows very cold, heater works great. Rear air also included and has been rebuilt and recharged. Tires about 60%. Tow package. Other than the driver seat, interior is in good shape. Brakes are carbon fiber upgrades (i always used the best on brakes) and at about 50%. Drives tight, stops as it should, everything works except as noted below. Items to be aware of:It has 396,000 miles. We took out of service at 325,000 due to a ticking noise in the valve area. After trial and error, we found that 1/2 a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil at the oil change quiets the noise usually until the next oil change. It has occured under heavy load like when we towed another car, which makes me think it might be a sticky valve on the exhaust side. At 325,000, I thought we'd have to put a new engine in it, and it's been ok since then. However. If I was going to keep it, I'd count on doing a new engine in the next 30k miles. Engines are about $1,000 on ebay including shipping plus another $800 for installation. These engines are really bullet proof and I'm not a Chevy guy. There was damage to the passenger side sliding door when someone turned into us. The door was reskinned, repainted by a Geico approved service center. No issues since. We lost the spare somewhere after the piece that hold the spare broke.. It is currently chained up in the rear. Servicable but not original. Tires should be rotated and balanced soon. 5/14 we replaced the oil pressure sensor when we developed a bad oil leak. The leak decreased immensely. However, we still see a small leak at the joint between the engine and transmission. I believe with the mileage it is the seal around the main bearing on the crank shaft. Non Functional: CD Player, though the radio works fine. No FOBs. Rear door lock and sliding door locks are not functional. Rear door lock has a 50 cent plastic latch that needs replaced and I just haven't done it as there is a electrical door lock at back door. Parts/Service History (estimated dates) 6/14: Replaced driver side bearing assembly 5/14: Oil pressure sensor sprung a bad leak, had is replaced.2/14: Replaced front struts and rear shocks.2/14: 390,000 - Replaced heater sensor assembly and associated wires (red electrical tape in photos) 5/13 380, 000 New Tires, plugs 2012: Alternator, new tie rods. New radiator. Rear air rebuilt.
