Vehicle Detail
For sale is 2 Sunbeam Alpine convertible cars Car #1 would be a good car to restore its a 1953 Sunbeam Alpine. This car came from California back in the 50's and ended up in Arizona. I have owed this since 2012 and the title states dismantle from last owner who owned a tow yard. I talked to Arizona MVD and they said they can issue a regular title when the car is restored to driving conditions. This car has never been in a accident. This car is 95% complete the pictures show what I have for both cars. The bad rust is the lower part of the trunk, both rear rockers and under the seats the rest is just surface rust. Frame is rust free and body is in really good shape. The only chrome missing is the side alpine badges. This car was red and sometime during the last 61 years someone painted it blue. Alpine #2 Iv'e owned since 2010 and it would make a good rally car it's 1955 Sunbeam Alpine with a ford engine and transmission in it and the original color is blue. This car shows allot of rust but the main structure is solid. You will see in the pictures that the hood was left upside down in the dirt for over 30 years so that is why the rust on it is so bad. I only have bill of sale for this car. I will not part these car out or split them up. My planes where to restore the 53 to look like the movie car and turn the 55 into a grey replica of the Stirling Moss rally car. There are around 200 of these cars left in the world. With Roots Group only making 1,582 of these cars from 1953 to 1955. The movie To Catch a Thief made this car famous with Alfred Hitchcock directing the movie and staring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. The main seen in the movie is when Grace Kelly races up the mountain in Monaco chased by the police in the Sunbeam Alpine. In 2003 the PBS show History Detectives did an episode on a 1953 Sunbeam Alpine that the owner said was the movie car but it wasn't. In 1982 Princes Grace Kelly lost control of here car and died on the same road that the car chase was filmed in Monaco. A bonus to the buyer of these cars is a very close kept secret about the movie car VIN number. I will give the movie car VIN number to the buyer of these two cars. And to those people that think they have the movie car send me an email with your VIN and I will verify. The 1953 Sunbeam Alpine cars where also raced by Stirling Moss and Sheila Van Damm in the Rally races of 1953.
