Vehicle Detail

General Description: Up for sale is my sapphire black 1984 Porsche 928 S Auto. Car is in overall good shape and needs minimal work to make it a great car. Car gets looks everywhere it goes. Recent paint is rated as 8 out of 10. The car was originally Risky Business metallic brown with brown interior, but has been converted to black exterior and the start of a black interior. There is absolutely no rust on the car, as it was a southern car all of it's life until recently. It currently rides on Porsche Carrera 4 17" 5 star wheels with brand new OEM Porsche center caps. Front seats were recently upholstered and are the earlier lightweight seats that everyone seems to want. All the power connections are still there, so if you want to swap in the newer power seats, you can do so easily. Rear seats are in excellent shape and are in black leather. Mechanically, the car needs nothing. 4-speed auto shifts fine and does not leak. Engine doesn't leak a drop of oil and I just replaced the power steering hose. The two previous owners were both Porsche nuts and took very good care of this car mechanically. This car does have a newer high pressure fuel pump that seems to wine louder than most, but the grumble of the V-8 drowns it out after starting. Engine has good, smooth idle and revs up nicely. Power window motors do work, but are not hooked up to the switches and are bypassed (new switches included). I just ran out of time to hook them up correctly. Car currently has an aftermarket CD player which works fine (yes, the power antennae still goes up and down nicely). Sunroof motor works, but I have only opened it once, as I am always afraid with these cars that you may not get it to close again. All lights work (see pictures), wipers work, turn signals, driving lights, etc. I just replaced the gauge cluster with a new unit. All lights and gauges work correctly. Yes, the speedo works (see pic of gauges working at speed). The previous owner in GA used this car as his daily driver. I just bought new back seats and a new steering wheel a couple of weeks ago and they look great. Why am I selling? I love Porsches, but with older Porsche's in this price range, they need work and attention to make them great. We have 4 kids who are involved in everything and I just don't have time for a project. My loss is your gain! Recent Work (within the past year):-New gauge cluster installed, all lights and gauges work correctly (see pic for at speed picture showing gauges and speedometer)-New ignition switch, key and cylinder lock (ignition issues are common with these cars, also a push button start installed just in case)-Oil/Filter change with Castrol 10-40 ( I was told not to use lighter weight oil for these engines)-Air Filer-Fuse Box Refresh (pulled box and cleaned contacts, checked relays)-Transmission Filter/Oil change-New OEM Porsche Center Caps-New Front Seats (excellent shape)-Newer Rear Seats (got these out of a newer 928 with very low miles, they look fantastic)-New paint-Newer steering wheel with good leather and no cracks. Needs Work:-A/C does not work-Driver's side electric door lock switch is missing (passenger's is there and works)-Door panels need some work (one piece is missing around the door handle on passenger side, easy to find on Ebay)-All carpet is there, but is still the redish brown color of original. The seats are all black and it was my intent to convert everything to black, including the dash)-Dash is sun dried and cracked and currently has a dash cover. Pod has smaller cracks in it as well. Again, I was going to change everything. Center console is in good shape. center console is decent, glove box is good (still works and locks). Exterior/Body:Paint is good (recent paint), body is good and there is absolutely no rust. Recent coating in the wheel wells to prevent corrosion. I could only find one small dimple on the front left fender, and I had to really be looking for it. This car is very solid and a great looking car. The wheels and the black paint really make it stand out. I have included as many pics as I could to let you see how great looking of a car this is. Front spoiler is cracked on the driver's side (easy to find on Ebay). This car sits very low and has to be taken in driveways and parking lots at an angle. Electrical:All lights function, including the power headlights (see pictures). Power window motors work, but are bypassed and not yet hooked up to their new switches. Power locks work on passenger door only. Odometer reads 117,000 miles, but the car really sits at 105,000. You will get documentation that shows this. AC does not work and I haven't had time to chase that down. Engine:This car starts first time, every time. It has no exhaust leaks, sounds great and has a smooth idle. I do not know when the timing belt was last changed and this should be the first item on the next owner's to do list. No leaks from the motor or transmission. I just replaced a power steering hose because of a leak. Transaxle:No leaks from the transmission and it recently had a oil and filter change. The transmission shifts fine and all gears, forward and reverse engage correctly. Interior:New front upholstery on front seats, newer back seats (in excellent shape). Front seats are out of an earlier 928 and are the lightweight, non power type. I am told these are wanted by buyers because of their light weight and comfort. Seats in this condition sell for about $500 a set. Door panels need work, but there are no cracks in either one. rear panels are in poor shape and need to be re-covered. Spare tires is there. Headliner is a excellent shape with no tears or wear. Summary/Conclusion:This car is in good shape for a 30 year old car. this is not a show car, but a restoration project that only needs some minor electrical work and interior pieces to finish. The engine, body and paint are all in great shape and the car has no rust. What more could you want? It is fast, handles great and is very fun to drive. If you're looking for a 928 to restore or fix up or to be a daily driver, this is a great opportunity. I will include the original owner's manual and the original window sticker with options. I will add a YouTube video of the engine starting and running as I know from experience that people want to see that. I have taken the time to write a detailed assessment of this vehicle and have added several photos at different angles for you to see. This car is not a show car. If you want one of those, go after the perfect $13-18k models. If you want a driver that needs little and is ready to drive everyday for a fraction of the cost, then this is your car. This car is selling at NO RESERVE, so bid wisely. Note: Auto Check score is 68 (better than average), but lists this car as having 394k miles. As you can tell from the report, it list 90k and then 3 years later 394k. That is physically impossible :) Just stating for those who will ask. The car has 105k. Odometer has it listed as 117k, but that is from the car the new gauge cluster came from. Thanks! Terms:$500 deposit via PayPal due within 48 hours of auction close. Balance due within 7 days by PayPal, cash or cashier's check. I will be glad to assist with shipping arrangements, but the costs are on the winning bidder. On May-24-14 at 09:19:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: Someone brought to my attention that the automated description is that this car is a manual. I have it in my description that this car is an Auto and there are pictures that reflect that. The car is automatic. Thanks! On May-28-14 at 19:03:36 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had a few people ask for the video of the car running. Here you go! Motor starts first time every time and runs very smooth. Happy bidding. Also note that car is for sale locally and has gotten a lot of interest. Thanks! http://youtu.be/DiO6UYsbur0
