Vehicle Detail
This no-reserve auction is for a 1996 BMW R1100RT Sport Touring Motorcycle that I purchased in 2010. It is a very well maintained bike that recently received an annual service from an authorized BMW shop. In addition to the new stainless brake lines and gel battery that it received in 2013, it also got new throttle and clutch cables in 2012. The bike has Ohlins shocks front and rear. The rear shock is the remote reservoir adjuster type. Tires are Michelin Pilot Road 3's, and I'd say they have 80% of their life left. The bike has a green tint Cee Bailey screen that's (I think) two inches taller and one inch wider than stock. Throttlemeister, Cee Bailey headlight cover, no other fancy stuff. This auction does not include system cases, but I do have BMW side cases, a BMW top case, and Cee Bailey bag liners. I will offer these for sale to the winning bidder. As you can see from the pictures, the bike is pretty clean. Some minor scrapes on the right side mirror and side cover from careless parking in my garage. But no drops or accidents in this bike's history. It has a clean title. If you carefully read the service order from the last service, you will note that the starter draws more than it should at startup. That is a common problem with the early RT's, and it causes the ABS sytem to fail to set intermittently. The solution to this problem is to replace the starter, but I have not done that as the bike never fails to start. If the bike is ridden daily, this problem does not occur. I'm an experienced motorcyclist, and an experienced eBay seller. I am located in Vallejo, CA which is about half way between SFO and Sacramento airports. If you would like to fly and buy, I will have the bike ready for you. Any questions, please feel free to contact me. My user name is also my telephone number.
