Vehicle Detail

A bit of a rare bird for sale here folks.  You don't see too many E34 540i sport 6 speeds up for sale, and here is your chance to get a great deal on one that needs a bit of work.  Tax season hit us hard this year, and I simply don't have the funds to make these repairs.  I purchased this vehicle two years ago, where it was an absolute GARAGE QUEEN.  The car was never driven in the snow, and meticulously maintained.  I have a STACK of service records, as well as a record of pretty much all service from day one.  I used the vehicle as my commuter car back and forth to Denver for the last two years, so it has accumulated a few parking lot scars.  As you can see from the photos, it is still one of the cleanest 540's on the road.  Inside, as it has always been a fair weather commuter, it is pretty much only the drivers seat that shows wear.  The previous owner was an audio engineer, so it has a high end audio system installed - depending on offer price, I may remove the sub and amplifier to try and recoup some cash if the buyer is not interested in it.  Anyway, the pictures pretty much say it all as far as aesthetic condition goes, so lets move on to mechanical. The car has great tread on the tires, plenty of brake and rotor life, etc.  I believe the clutch needs to be replaced, sooner rather than later.  It began slipping in high gears under heavy acceleration in the winter, and I was waiting for warmer weather to pull the tranny and put a new one in.  Warm weather is here, but my bank account says no.  The car seems to accelerate fine through 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but if you hit the gas in a higher gear, you'll get slippage. Additionally, gear changes are starting to get a bit more difficult, with an occasional pop out of 3rd.  Additionally, I believe that the car may need an auxiliary water pump (the one underneath the heater valves that circulates hot water for the heater when the car is not running) - I have not performed any trouble shooting on this issue - The operating temperature began to rise on the car, and there was water and steam coming from that particular area of the car.  BMW forums seem to indicate that this is not an uncommon issue. I turned it off and have not gone any further in diagnostics.  I would fix it, but with the clutch issue it would still not be reliable transportation for me to drive to work, so I'm taking a run at selling it as is.  Everything else is tight and right to the best of my knowledge.  I would encourage you to see the vehicle first hand, though for obvious reasons, aggressive test drives will not be permitted. Please feel free to ask any and all questions, and make any and all offers.  I'm a motivated seller, as until I sell this vehicle, I am commuting 15 miles to work by bike, and its only getting hotter :)
