Vehicle Detail

I am selling a 1973 Toyota Corolla Coupe Deluxe. It has a 1.6 liter 2TC 4 cylinder engine, 4-speed manual transmission (a 5-speed and prop-shaft come with it as well) and it is rear wheel drive with disc brakes up front. The car is very solid with some minor dents and dings. There is some surface rust in the spare tire well, and the right rear quarter has some rust from the rear window seal leak. Inside, the door panels and seats are in good shape. The dash is cracked but has a cover and the headliner needs to be removed or replaced. It has a console, but it is not original. The gauges, speedo, odometer, horn, heater, wipers, blinkers, lighter, flashers, exterior lights and parking brake all work. Items recently replaced: master cylinder, rear wheel cylinder, fuel pump, distributer vacuum advance, spark plugs, distributer cap, rotor, plug wires, transmission output shaft seal and miscellaneous hoses and gaskets. I have all new tie rod ends, but they have not been installed on the car. It also comes with a spare steering column and steering box. The 5-speed was an option for that year, and I am told that the one that comes with the car will bolt right in. It looks similar and is only about ¼ inch longer than the 4-speed. There are also some miscellaneous items that come with it such as badges, owner’s manual, took kit, tire chains, shoulder belts and more. The car runs decent, but I think there may be an issue with the carb. I am the second owner of this car. It has spent its entire life in the desert (hence the issue with the window seal and lack of rust). It was last registered in CA and has a California non-op. My original plan was to use it as a commuter car, but plans changed when the wife and I began commuting together (awe honey, do you really need AC?). Since it is rear wheel drive, I thought it may be a great candidate for a small V-6 or conversion to electric if the four banger is just too “normal.” It is not perfect, but overall it is in very good condition (did I mention the original owner was a Toyota mechanic?), and it has a ton of potential. On May-09-14 at 08:29:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Here are the answers to a couple questions I received: The spare tire well had some surface rust, so I scraped the scale and paint and applied a rust sealer. The metal is still very solid. The right rear quarter panel has some rust bubbling through the paint. I checked for rust in the trunk in the area of the rear window, and could find no evidence of rust. I added a picture of the spare tire well after the rust sealer was applied, the rear quarter panel and an example of the gaps in the window seals.
