Vehicle Detail

1964 Porsche 356C VIN: 217242Engine Number: P712369. [There are stars before the 7 and after the 9] Being sold without reserve, a 1964 Porsche 356C. not garaged for years and rusty, so a major restoration would be required. The Porsche has original body (#217242) corresponding to original engine (#P712369).For those looking for a parts car for an existing Porsche restoration, or to sell, there are easily 10K worth of parts here. The engine, hoods, glass, lights, steering wheel, seats, dash instruments, handles, 3-of-4 hubcaps, all appear to be in reasonably good shape. I have seen engines for sale on ebay for 5-7K, hoods for 1-2K, original steering wheels without the columns for 2-4K, etc. I am assured by vintage auto experts with whom I have consulted that this car could be fully restored ("just a question of time and $"). Restoration was my plan for years, but the cost of doing so has been beyond my current means, so I'm going to stop hoping to get around to it some day, and just pass the baton on to someone else.Unfortunately the car has not been treated properly and was left exposed to the elements for years. Currently, the driver's door is sort of stuck shut. Again, a full strip-down restoration (or harvesting the parts) are the two viable options for this car. The back seat area has holes in the floor, to give you an indication of the extent of the undercarriage rust. The front hood doesn't seem to want to open either, which is puzzling since I had it open as recently as a year ago. On the brighter side, we just took a closer look at the engine block today, and found the corroborating numbers under the grime, and above the MADE IN GERMANY stamp. The vehicle was recently flat-bedded from upstate, NY to its current location in Clark, NJ, where it may be inspected. The vehicle does not start as the key long ago went missing. I am selling this vehicle on behalf of my father who bought the Porsche in 1984 (there is an NY registration sticker in the window from 1995, the last time the car was on the road). The winning bidder must also incur the cost of having the vehicle towed away from its present location. The vehicle will not be delivered to them. The vehicle MUST be flat-bedded, not towed with wheels touching the street. Once the vehicle is removed from the premises by the buyer, there is no possibility of a refund, full, partial or otherwise. Your bid constitutes full agreement of these terms and conditions. Interested parties are already starting to email with cash offers, but I am assuring everyone that the auction will not end early, so all serious parties will have a fair and equal chance to arrange to come out and see the vehicle and decide if they would like to bid. To save everyone's time, there is no Reserve. This vehicle does not have, nor did it ever have, a Title. New York State DMV has already been notified of the sale in progress and provided the transfer of ownership document, which my father has already signed. All that is required is that the winning bidder's name be named in this document as the new owner. ADDITIONAL PICS & VIDEO: - There are dozens of additional photos to be seen at the website www guesstimation dot net slash Porsche (the word Porsche must be uppercase)- There are two videos on YouTube of the car: one showing the car sitting in its previous upstate, NY location, the other showing the Porsche sitting in its current location, a driveway in Clark, NJ. Go to YouTube and search in quotes: "1964 Porsche 356C Project" and both videos should come up as the top choices. ADDITIONAL NOTES:- Regarding the matching of the VIN number to the engine number: The slideshow at www guesstimation dot net slash Porsche has a photo of the VIN, as printed on the 1985 NYS registration. The first photo in the slideshow shows the engine number etched onto the engine block. Again the matching numbers are: VIN: 217242 and engine: P712369- Regarding the title (or lack thereof): there are no liens on the vehicle. There is no title due to the vintage of the car. Check with NY DMV and you will learn that no title is required for a vehicle pre-1970.- Regarding the price: I am getting inundated with cash offers and requests for a 'best price'. Please do not go there, as the auction is not going to end early and no side deals will be contemplated. - Regarding shipping the vehicle to the far corners of the earth: I won't be doing this. The winning bidder will need to personally travel to the NJ driveway shown in the photos to flat-bed tow the Porsche.
