Vehicle Detail

1996 Suzuki dual sport motorcycle: DR350 – Enduro, Off-Road style, dirt and trail motorbike with aftermarket installed lighting and horn and equipment for use also on the road. One cylinder, four stroke engine 350 cc. SOHC (Single Overhead Cam), Air/Oil-cooled 4 valves. 30 horsepower, Six speed transmission. This Suzuki model has been a very popular dual sport bike for many years. It is made to be light weight, easy handling with a plastic gas tank, aluminum swing arm, oil-in-frame design. Lots of fun to ride. This bike was manufactured as a rugged trail bike with no battery (and no battery maintenance), kick-start and special dual purpose on/off-road tires. It now has a Baja Designs dual-sport kit which provides lights and horn for street legal, dual sport capability. It has no odometer so actual mileage is unknown. Ebay required a number, so I used 999999. Also has a windscreen and mirror installed. I have a Virginia DMV Certificate of Title in my name, which I will use to transfer ownership to the buyer. The bike was tagged and street legal in Virginia when I became the second owner in 2008. With engine running, the lights work, horn works, everything works. Because it has no battery, these items are not functional when the engine is shut off. The engine seems to need a tune-up. Currently the bike will idle only using higher rpm. The bike has always been kept in a garage or storage unit indoors with gas drained and fogging oil sprayed in the spark plug hole. This sale includes two ammo boxes which were with the bike when I bought it. They were once mounted as luggage boxes, but the mounting brackets made by the previous owner were not strong enough and have become broken. If you want to mount the ammo boxes, you will need to make new mounting brackets to attach them to the bike. The back fender and attaching bar are mangled a bit from the old mounting hardware (see photo above brake light) and it appears the previous owner repaired with epoxy or j.b. weld. Not pretty, but the parts are still strong and functional. Owners manual and Suzuki Service Manual included along with spare spark plugs, oil filter, air filter and miscellaneous o-rings. Interested buyers are welcome to see the bike in Tazewell, Virginia. This is intended for local pickup only, but I can also meet the buyer for pickup at Interstate 81 at Abingdon or Wytheville or at Interstate 77 at Princeton or Wytheville. Contact me with any questions or to see the bike. Buyers with less than ten successful ebay transactions will be blocked unless they contact me in advance. Bike is sold AS-IS with no warranty, express or implied. On May-02-14 at 08:34:04 PDT, seller added the following information: __________ Addition Posted May 2: Clarification, the bike is a running bike. It usually starts on the second or third kick for me which I guess is pretty normal. As of now the bike idles with the throttle stop screw on the carb set to idle at a higher rpm. Once you do that it will idle steadily for long periods, which we have tested with a leaf blower going over the cooling fins of the motor to make sure it doesn't over-heat. The bike seems to idle better at lower rpms with the choke on. At higher rpms and when you are riding it around it seems to work and run fine. You can still ride it around as it is. Every now and then you may get a sputter from the engine, kind of sounds like a two stroke does. These problems seem to have arisen after the first time I stored it for over a year. I have taken the carb apart and given it a good clean. But I haven't gotten a tachometer on the bike and played with the adjustments on the carb to get it running really well. I also haven't done anything to check the valves or timing or any other tune up procedures recommended in the service manual.
