Vehicle Detail

Hi everyone, I'm helping my mother-in-law sell off my late father-in-law's toys (wish I had the means and space to justify keeping them!). This is a 1967 Ford Mustang GTA "S-code" with a 390 cu. in. big block V8. My father-in-law purchased it off of the Internet sight unseen sometime in the mid 2000s, and then spent WAY too much on a 5+ year ground-up restoration (with some tasteful modifications to make it more enjoyable to drive). The receipts indicate that the build was completed at the end of December 2011. This car is NOT stock because he always restored cars to his taste and for his driving pleasure - not for resale. He explained that while this car is a Coupe and is an Automatic, the "S-Code" makes it rather rare (and a hell of a lot of fun to drive!). The car was recently appraised by a certified CAGA appraiser at $46.2K, and a copy of the appraisal will accompany the car. We understand that these sorts of appraisals are geared toward replacement (as opposed to market) value, but it should give you an idea of the amount of time and money that was put into it. Basic Summary of the 1967 Mustang GTA Codes are:Body: 65B - 2 Door Hardtop, Luxury InteriorColor: X - Vintage Burgundy MetallicDate: 29M - December 29, 1966D.S.O.: 72 - San JoseAxle: 1 - 3.00, ConventionalTrans: U - C6 Automatic Engine/Transmission - the engine is a real 390 that has been full rebuilt by The Mustang Shop in San Diego. It is unknown to me if the engine is original to the car. Receipts and documentation show that almost $12K was put into new pistons, crank bearings, new cam bearings and cam, new lifters, new timing chain, new oil pump, reground crank, Edelbrock intake manifold (aluminum dual plane), Quick Fuel 650 cfm performance carburetor, new water pump, new performance harmonic balancer, custom headers, new aluminum radiator, new wiring harness, fuel lines, alternator, fuel pump, and starter. The points were recently replaced with an electronic ignition to smooth out engine's performance. The C6 transmission was also fully rebuilt to the tune of about $2800. Paint/Body - the car was repainted with the original Vintage Burgundy color at a cost of about $12K. All chrome, seals, glass has been replaced. Interior - the entire interior has been replaced to the original style except that newer power Mustang seats were fitted. Because the newer seat rails put the seat higher than normal, the floor was boxed to lower the seats for optimal seating positioning. The seats came from 1994 Mustang convertible that my friend was parting out for a Factory Five cobra build, and were reupholstered to mimic the '67 seats. A new A/C and heating conversion kit was installed and the system blows very cold. A tilt steering column and custom wood steering wheel were also installed. The stereo is believed to be a AM/FM Classic Car Stereos retro model with CD changer control (no CD changer was installed). Suspension/Steering/Differential/Brakes - all new suspension replaced the old - includes new shocks, springs, upper and lower control arms, sway bar, and bushings. 9" differential. A Wilwood Front Big Brake Disc Conversion kit with drilled and slotted rotors, and a Wilwood rear Disc Brake conversion kit was installed. All new brake lines and a Wilwood master cylinder were installed. A TCP power steering rack and pinion was added, along with 5.0 power steering pump and new steering lines.. Wheels/Tires - American Racing Torque Thrust II polished mags (17" x 8" all around) with BFG 245/45-17 tires. This car is a lot of fun to drive with a serious amount of torque. Our mechanic indicated that there is about 20-25HP that can be dialed in on a dyno, but the car is scary-fast as it is. It gets driven about 2-3 miles every 7-10 days to keep it exercised. I don't recall ever seeing my father-in-law drive the car. In fact, the build was so fresh that we had to take it down to have weights put on the wheels for balancing! It turns heads every time we take it out. Known Issues - there is a very slow oil leak coming from the rear of the engine. Most likely it was caused by a pinched seal during the build. When we drive it, there are only a couple of drops of oil under the car after it's been sitting for a week. The clock in the dash seems to work intermittently. Other than those two items, everything appears to work as it should on this car. I will try to answer any questions as accurately as possible, but I wasn't directly involved in this project (although I did pay close attention when he spoke about it). There is a box of extra (original?) parts that we will include with the vehicle, and a file full of receipts documenting the entire build. Thanks for looking at this wonderful car.
