This is a true original 37K mile survivor Syclone - fully original except the following: - Flowmaster dual 3" stainless exhaust - I have the original exhaust system like new, can be returned to full stock configuration. - K&N intake system - I have the original airbox and associated hardware, can be returned to full stock configuration. - Heavy duty fuel pump added because the stock pumps were weak and could cause fuel starvation and octane knock. Can be removed and returned to full stock configuration. - 2" drawtite hitch ball added - I pulled my jet skis for 2 summers with this truck. Can be removed. - Spray bedliner added to protect the bed and tailgate. I have owned the truck for 20 years now as the 2nd owner which I purchased from the original owner a close family friend. I have known and been around the truck since it was new and purchased in a Raleigh NC GMC dealership. It has never left NC and been stored inside since new. It has always been adult owned and never abused. Always has had Mobil 1 oil changes every 5K, first set of new tires put on at 25K. The truck has been in and out of storage, mainly driven in the spring and fall on occasional weekends. I have all the original documentation and keys. Clean CARFAX, never hit or repaired from any damage. Original paint, interior, wheels, etc. No modifications other than what is listed above. This is not a perfect show truck, it has been driven for 37K miles and is 24 years old, but if you want an original unmolested survivor ready to show, own and drive, this is it. All the switches, lights, AC, radio work as original, not aware of the truck needing anything. The paint is in nice shape, has a few small dings and chips - the interior is like new condition. The wheels have some oxidation of the clear coat, but nothing a polish and re-clear wouldn't correct. The motor and turbo is strong and drives like new - no smoke, the transmission is crisp and shifts firm and drives like new. The tires are 10+ years old and are a bit hard but have 90% tread left and look to be in good condition. The only known issue with this truck is an intermittently working oil pressure gauge in the gauge cluster. The gauge cluster was replaced once under warranty at approx 1000 miles, this is a common problem with the cluster. I had a mechanical oil pressure gauge on the truck so it was never a big deal to me to replace the electrical cluster again. I also did not replace the second gauge cluster because it includes the odometer which would ruin the documentation of the actual miles on this original truck. If it is a problem for you, the gauge cluster is available new for about $250 and would require a few hours labor to install, but remember it will replace the odometer and set the miles at zero which will effect the documentation on the truck. Produced in 1991, the Syclone spawned the similarly powered 1992-1993 GMC Typhoon SUV. Another vehicle, the GMC Sonoma GT, offered less performance but was seen as a companion model. At the time it was introduced, the Syclone was the quickest stock pickup truck being produced in the world. Auto magazines compared its acceleration favorably to a variety of sports cars including the Corvette and - in a memorable comparison test in Car and Driver magazine - a Ferrari. Featuring a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, all wheel drive, and 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, the specifications had more in common with a Porsche than most other pickup trucks. Both the Syclone and Typhoon trucks featured a Mitsubishi TD06-17C 8 cm² turbocharger and Garrett water/air intercooler attached to a 4.3 L LB4 V6 engine with unique pistons, main caps, head gaskets, intake manifolds, fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM Small-Block engine. All Syclones and Typhoons had a GM 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. A Borg Warner all wheel drive transfer case split torque with 35% forward and 65% to the rear wheels. Both trucks featured sport modifications to the standard suspensions. The Syclone was the first production truck to receive a 4 wheel anti-lock braking system. Output was 280 hp (209 kW) and 350 lb·ft (475 N·m). The Syclone, when new, was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and could do a quarter-mile run in 13.6 seconds at 93 mph (150 km/h) according to Car & Driver's comparison test. In 1991 Syclones were available in black only. 1992 models were to be offered in a wider range of colors before they were canceled. 2995 Syclones were built in 1991, and 3 in 1992. 113 (estimated 31 returned) were reported as Export Sales including a subset now referred to as the Saudi Syclones — a small number were delivered to Saudi Arabia and modified with a metric dash cluster, leaded fuel chip, and a resonator in place of the catalytic converter.
