Vehicle Detail
I am selling my brother's 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel truck. He passed away recently and this is more truck than we need. He was a transport driver (boats and RVs, etc.) so even though it has high mileage (all mostly highway miles) it still has a Kelly Blue book value of over $13,000! I can send you a copy of the report. He was even talking with Dodge about getting another truck once this one reached 1 million miles - who knows? For those of you who are familiar with Dodge and the Cummins engine you know that the high mileage means nothing. This is a strong engine and it runs fine. It started right up after sitting at my brother's house for 3 months and then we took off and drove it 500 miles to Tucson without a single problem. It does have some cosmetic damage from a run-in with a young moose in Canada last year (if this truck could talk)! The engine and chassis were not involved in the incident. It runs fine and the only thing it really needs is a little work on the synchros. They are a little worn but my brother drove it just fine, I have driven it and my husband drove it all the way back from Las Vegas (500 miles) with no problem. I guess it just depends upon what kind of driver you are. My husband is a mechanic and he did a lot of the regular maintenance on the truck for my brother so he is very familiar with it if you have questions. Here is a list of amenities: 6-cylinder, manual 6-speed transmission, Cummins HO turbo diesel, 4-wheel drive, 4 doors, additional 100-gallon fuel tank included, large diamond-plate tool box included, rails for 5th wheel hitch (goose-neck hitch included), ABS, air conditioning (needs compressor replaced - we have the new one - my brother did not have time to replace it before he passed away), power doors and windows, power steering, cruise control, tilt wheel, AM/FM stereo, CD player, dual air bags, additional heavy-duty grill guard included, steel wheels, Weston running boards, tire jack and lug wrench, air horn, extended RV mirrors, spare parts (water pump, belts, hoses, etc.). We believe the gear ratio to be a 370. There is no rust on the truck. I believe it has a limited slip differential. There is no tailgate (my brother removed it to make it easier to use the diamond-plate tool box). This truck is loaded and ready to go! This was my brother's pride and joy. This is a work-horse of a vehicle - the fact that it has over 800,000 miles on it and is still going strong testifies to that fact! If you are just looking for a second truck for the family - this isn't it. If you don't know how to drive or maintain a diesel truck - this one isn't for you. If you don't understand the reliability of this Cummins motor - keep looking. This is a TRUCK! I say these things because of all the questions I have received, despite the huge amount of description I have given, that show that the people asking have no real idea of what I am selling. We are selling the Dodge for only enough to pay ourselves back for the loan my brother had on it that we had to pay off to change the title over. This price leaves a huge amount of money available for optional cosmetic work or any repairs that might arise that we are not aware of at this time ($13,000 book value - $8500 price = $4500 difference).
