Vehicle Detail

This auction ends Easter Sunday, April 20th at roughly 7pm, Mountain Time This is a sweetheart of a truck - a 1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne with air conditioning, tilt steering column, and tachometer.  It has power steering, power disc brakes, and a nicely rebuilt 350 V8 coupled to a 700R4 automatic transmission with overdrive.  This is a fun, easy-to-drive classic truck that is reliable and ready for anything. Interior - The saddle-colored interior of this truck is clean and in very nice condition.  It has all of the proper upgrades that the Cheyenne package includes - woodgrain door panel inserts, deluxe pedal trim, a headliner, cigar lighter, etc.  The seat and headliner have been nicely recovered in matching fabric with a subtle bow tie logo.  There are 3 sets of seat belts, all are clean.  The dash has not been cut and houses a vintage GM Delco AM/FM radio.  A nice wood steering wheel is mounted to a tilt column with working gear indicator (and light).  The instrument cluster has been refurbished - everything is bright and clean, all lights work, all gauges work (including the tachometer).  The windows roll up and down easily, and the heater controls work smoothly and properly. Exterior - The exterior of the truck is also in very nice condition.  The two-tone paint is smooth and shiny, and these are the correct factory colors for this truck.  All of the glass is in good condition, as are the grill, bumpers, and trim pieces.  The tailgate is straight and has not been bowed from heavy use.  All of the doors, tailgate, and hood line up nicely and open and close easily - no sagging and no need to slam anything to get it to close.  The underside of the truck is solid - all cab mounts, front fender cups, etc are solid with no rust through.  This truck has spent its entire life in Texas and Colorado. Mechanical - This truck starts easily, runs smoothly, shifts well, and drives down the road nicely.  The engine is a rebuilt 350 V8 that is strong and well-maintained.  It has excellent oil pressure and runs cool (has the big 4-core radiator).  An electronic HEI ignition and high quality spark plug wires (both from Performance Distributors) have been added to ensure reliability.  The dual exhaust is throaty and retains factory manifolds, also for reliability.  The transmission is a 4 speed automatic (700R4) with overdrive, it has been rebuilt and shifts nicely.  The truck has a good Interstate battery.  The suspension is stock with the exception of Early Classics 2 1/2” lowering spindles up front and 3” lowering coils in the rear, with the appropriate shock absorbers.  The BF Goodrich tires are mounted on rally wheels with trim rings, center caps, and chrome lugs.  The rear axle has a 3.08 gear ratio, which combined with the overdrive transmission make for a pleasant highway cruiser with decent fuel economy. Flaws - I have been told I’m often too critical, but here are the things I’d want to know if I were buying this truck.  Please don’t get the wrong impression from this paragraph - this is a very nice truck, as you can see from the photos below (which were taken only a few days ago, so they are current and accurate).  I simply don’t want the new owner to have any surprises or disappointments.  The paint has a few small nicks here and there from normal use.  There are some cracks in the seam sealer in the rain gutter.  The top of the bed rails have some mounting holes from the toolbox and previously installed decorative rails.  There is a ding on the left taillight trim piece.  There is a rust hole in the inner fender under the battery.  The bed has a plastic liner installed (I have never removed it, bed appears to be black paint under the liner).  The horn does not work.  The radio powers on and lights up, but plays very quietly - I believe it needs a new speaker.  The air conditioning blew cold last summer - it has not been warm enough to tell if it’s currently blowing cold, but the compressor is engaging and there is no reason it should not work just fine.  There is a manual shutoff valve for the coolant in place of the original vacuum-operated one on the passenger inner fender.  The front tires are just ok, and the rear tires are getting thin - the new owner will want to replace them (I didn’t as the new owner might have a different preference in size or brand of tire).  One of the front trim rings has been lightly scraped on a curb.  These are all relatively minor or easily addressed issues, but I felt they should be disclosed up front. Overall - This truck is a great driver.  The steering is nice and tight, the truck doesn't wander down the road. The ride is pleasant, not too stiff nor too soft. It doesn't squeak or rattle when driving over bumps. The doors open and close easily. The heater and air conditioning controls operate smoothly and precisely. The turn signals cancel themselves properly.  All of the lights work.  The exhaust sounds great. The truck runs, drives, and stops exactly like it should.  The 3.08 gears combined with the overdrive transmission mean you can drive this truck at highway speeds without over-revving the engine or wasting fuel, and the power steering and power disc brakes make it easy for anyone to drive without having to be “old truck savvy”.  Of course, its classic looks are a real plus as well! If you have any questions, please ask them prior to placing your bid. If you are local, or know someone who is, please consider coming to see the truck in person. Different things are important to different people, and while I have tried to describe all important aspects of the vehicle, it's impossible to cover every last detail. Terms of Sale Buyer will be responsible for either having the vehicle shipped, or picking it up in person. I will sell to US buyers only! I expect a $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of the end of auction. Payment in full is due within 5 days of the end of auction, no exceptions. I will accept cash or cashier's check for balance of payment. If picking up the vehicle in person within the 5 days, I will require the balance due in cash at that time. Please only bid if you are willing to honor it! I know this doesn't need to be explained to most of you, but with all the new users something has to be said. Ebay is not a game, it costs money to list things here, please don't waste my time and money. Thank you! On Apr-19-14 at 15:39:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received several inquiries about the truck and have decided to address a few of the more common questions here for all to see: I did look under the rear of the bed liner and there are no signs of rust in the rear corners of the truck bed (a common place for these trucks to rust).  Also, the bed floor is straight, not warped or beat-down from heavy use.  The toolbox has never been used, is clean inside, and the keys are included. The weatherstripping around the windows is in good condition, soft and pliable. I do have some pictures of the underside of the truck, showing the front fender cups, all 4 cab mounts, etc.  If you'd like to see these, send me a message and I'll pass them along to you. I do not have any extra parts for the truck (several people have asked about suspension parts, steering wheel, etc).  You are bidding on what you see in the pictures. Lastly - I will not end the auction early.  I do not have a "buy it now" price.  The auction will run for its full time period, and when it's all said and done the high bidder will have a new truck. Thanks for all the interest!
