Vehicle Detail

Some of you might look at this "Impala" and wonder why the price seems a lil strong compared to other "Impalas". Well I'm sorry, you are not my target audience. The guys that see this and think "oh my" a 1962 bel air bubbletop, I've been searching forever for one of these. That's the guy who's going to own this car, I guarantee it. My favorite car of all time hands down and same with many of my car buddies. This is a genuine 1962 Factory built Bel Air Sport coupe or commonly referred as a "bubbletop", I picked it up just like you see it with intentions of a quick mechanical clean up, tidy up the interior, install a nice riding adjustable air suspension,a set of wheels and roll it for the summer while working on my other bubbletop. With decent weather barely here I can already see my workload for the summer is going to be massive and I won't have time for either of the bubbletops so they are both going up for sale. While the other bubbletop is a builder and a great start to a complete restoration this car is better suited to someone who wants to own and start enjoying a 1962 Bel Air sport coupe without any wait. Here's the scoop on the car. The man that owned it before, Installed a new GM 290HP 350 cu in. crate motor and a modern gm 5 speed transmission. During the engine install, he put in a new clutch kit and he rebuilt the driveshaft with new u joints and a new center support bearing. The engine was converted to a new internally regulated alternator from the factory generator and a new water pump was installed. The engine runs very good, I did notice that the wiring looked like it could use cleaned up before giving the ok for daily driver status. The brakes feel good, the previous owner mentioned they were new including the wheel cylinders and master cylinder. The wheels are the wider 409 style with new tires and the correct 62 dog dish hub caps. The paint is super shiney but it is only driver quality, I don't think the car was disassembled for paint, I believe is was just masked and sprayed. All the trim, chrome and glass is unrestored original in driver quality condition. Appears to have had sheetmetal replacement in the trunk, rockers, lower quarters and floors. I would call it production quality work not up to high end restoration standards. There is still some interior work to finish on the car like the door sills and window cranks but for the most part you can work on it while you drive and enjoy.
