Up for sale is a 1996 Dodge Caravan in "poor to fair" condition. Background:This car was purchased several years ago (2008, to be exact, I believe) and at that time was treated to approximately $2000 worth of repairs and upgrades, as it was going to be driven by my oldest son and we wanted him to be safe and to not break down and get stranded anywhere. So, when he took possession, he was given a car that was mechanically very sound and, most importantly, totally reliable. Fast forward to the present and the van has served the family well, but age and a fender bender has taken its toll. The body isn't really a looker any longer, as the front shows the results of a minor accident which tweaked and damaged the fenders, front fascia and hood. The car runs and drives acceptably, and does so with a great air conditioner, so you do it quite comfortably. The photos show the van without any seats, as my son liked to keep a sleeping bag and his skateboards in the back. The seats are available and will be provided with the van. Without them installed, however, there is a HUGE amount of room - suitable and really perfect for someone who does pool cleaning or lawn trimming/mowing and wants to keep their equipment safe and secure at night. The "Good":* Great air conditioner!* Good, smooth shifting transmission!* Michelin tires in good shape all the way around!* Premium window tinting for added security for items in the back!* Good brakes!* Recently passed its smog test!* Good engine/good running condition (with one important caveat, please see "check engine light" comments below) The "Bad":* Various dents and scrapes, tweaked body panels.* Cracked dash.* Left rear tailight (working) needs to be secured in place.* The "check engine light" came on prior to getting the van smogged. The car was taken to a repair shop and after the codes were read and some minor engine work was done (replace plug wires, ignition coil, etc.) and the light reset several times, the car successfully passed the smog test. However, shortly afterwards, my youngest son and I were driving in the van when it just stopped running. It was taken to the shop that had smogged it and they got it to start without any trouble when it was towed in, and then, in the morning when they went to get into it further, it again started right up. So, not having anything to fix on it, they contacted me and let me know it could possibly be one or more of the following items, or it could be the ECM, they didn't know for sure. We didn't want to put any more money into the van, as my youngest son (who now had possession) had his eyes on getting a different car, so we decided to sell it rather than pursue correcting the items pointed out by the codes, which are: VEHICLE HAS CODES:P0300 MISS FIRE CODES, P0340 NO CAM SIGNAL, P0320 NO CRANK SIGNAL BOTTOM LINE:So, if you are a mechanic, or have a repair shop, or have access to a mechanic, and know how to correct these items, this could be a great work or second car for you at a great price. Right now, however, this issue needs to be addressed BEFORE using it as a daily driver, as it stops running without any warning. PLEASE! PLEASE!
