Offered for auction, at low reserve, is a 1929 Ford Phaeton replica body and frame. The body is heavy fiberglass with considerable steel inner structure and reinforcing. The body was one of 13 bodies made by Camelot Industries, in an attempt to stimulate sales of their existing 29 Model A Roadster, formerly built and sold by "Shay" through local Ford Dealers. Camelot purchased Shay and attempted to resume manufacturing replicas.. This body design is unique in that Ford did not produce a 1929 two door Phaeton making this a very unique body. I have restored 1929 Shay Roadsters in the past. This bodies construction far surpasses the quality and strength of the roadsters. The body has a recessed firewall providing ample room for almost any V-8 engine/transmission combination. The doors are hinged and latched. Reproduction 28-29 windshield stanchions are mounted along with custom top irons. The chassis is a new custom Model A chassis from JW Rod Garage. The chassis is set for a dropped front straight axle and coil over rear suspension. No suspension or steering components are included! JUST THE CHASSIS! The body is resting on a wooden dollie for easy handling. The pictured wheels and tires are there just to demonstrate what the vehicle could look like. I will include the dollie and wheels/tires with the sale. The wheels and tires are just "roll-arounds" and not in streetable condition. There is no title with the vehicle but it came with a certificate of origin. Local pickup is preferred. Shipping/transportation arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. I will gladly assist any shipper in loading. I, too, can provide shipping up to 200 miles from zip code 60439 for $1.25 to $1.50 per loaded mile. Interested individuals are encouraged to stop out and look over the car before bidding. I will make myself available at any time. A deposit of $200.00 via Pay Pal is required within 48 hours of the auction end. The balance is to be paid in cash, certified check or bank transfer. The vehicle will not be released until funds have cleared by bank. I am reluctant to let this one go because it is so unique, but six other car projects, a crumbling house and additional health issues dictate that is time for someone else to build and enjoy it. It does not have a complete dashboard but it is cast to accept the standard Model A top dash rail.
