BMW R1100RS custom cafe racer. 90hp, about 400lbs.= very fast. Completely customized and restored from the ground up, everything either replaced, restored, modified or customized. Starting with a R1100RS with documented (BMW service records) 26230 miles, the bike was completely disassembled and rebuilt incorporating a new customized gas tank, frame, seat, fairing and suspension. The engine/transmission was in excellent, perfect running condition with virtually no wear as it only has 26k miles and has been meticulously maintained. The bike had been in storage off and on for many years with the original owner rarely riding the bike and during that time some cosmetic parts like seat and fairing and gas tank became damaged during storage. I purchased the bike in that condition and decided to modify it as originally the R1100 bikes are quite heavy.After the modifications, the bike is over 110 lbs lighter. That is a huge weight savings that completely transformed the bike into a rocket. It handles like a true sport bike and is really really fast now, and as reliable and docile as the original. The exhaust system is a custom stainless steel that sounds mellow, it has a kind of a growl that is very good without being too loud. It has a kind of retro look with a BMW gas tank from a R90S from the seventies that has been modified with the shell only used with a new custom tank built underneath to allow room for the stock computer and fuel pump, etc. The gas tank, seat and fairing are painted a beautiful BMW titanium silver metallic color.A new carbon fibre front fender was fitted. You can choose the chrome headlight rim or the black rim. The ABS brake system has been removed together with related brake pipes and wiring. That alone saved over 35-40 lbs. The bike retains the original Bosch fuel injection that is ultra reliable and simple to maintain. More substantial weight savings came from removing the heavy stock subframe/rear fender/seat/rear lights,etc. A further savings of about 42lbs. Wiring was much simplified with removal of unnecessary warning lights and displays. The bike still has warning lights for turn signal indicators, neutral light, battery, oil pressure, and high beam warning lights. An electronic tachometer is fitted. The front stock shock/spring is notoriously soft so a top quality Bilstein shock with a higher rate spring was fitted and now the handling is awesome. No unwanted sloppy handling. It is taught and precise without being too hard, just a great improvement. Very comfortable riding position that is not too low in front. Both tires replaced with top quality Dunlops. The brakes are top of the line Brembo with braided steel brake hoses. The rest of the mods are obvious from the photos and if I did not mention it, it was either replaced, restored or modified.
