Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1999 BMW 328i convertible with the premium package. I am the second owner. This has been my personal car for about 9 years and I bought it in central Florida. I own 3 BMWs and several other cars and take excellent care of all of them. This one has 231,941 miles on it. Don’t let that bother you, though, as just about every mechanical part that ever fails on a BMW has been replaced within the last few years. Look at the pictures and the list below and you'll see it is a well maintained beauty. This car comes with a rare matching removable hard top. I could get about $1200 for the hardtop separately, but really think they should go together. The car is wired for the top (about $300 just for the parts) and the top comes with a roll-around storage cradle and cloth cover. This top makes the car much quieter in cooler weather and it saves wear and tear on the convertible top. It also has dome lights, a glass rear window of course, and a rear window defroster. The car also has an aftermarket iPod dock. It replaces the CD changer and works perfectly with the premium (stock) Harmon-Kardon stereo. In fact, it works better than the factory iPod dock in my 2008 BMW! This car is tight, fast and a blast to drive, especially with the top down. Nothing clears away the unpleasant thoughts from a day at work quite like driving home in a convertible! I have never skimped on maintenance. Here are all the things I’ve had done to this one over the past few years. Within the past year: Front suspension wishbone assemblies (control arms) and all front bushings. New tie rodsNew front strutsFront end alignmentNew front rotors and padsPower steering reservoir and all power steering lines replaced. Fluid flushed Oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket and engine oil lines replaced (This car does not leak any fluids. Very rare for an older BMW!)New fan clutch New driveshaft center support bearing and guibo (universal coupler and bushings)New coolant reservoir, all new coolant hoses and a new coolant level sensorNew auxiliary cooling fan, coolant temperature sensor and relaysNew beltsNew belt tensionersNew headliner in the removable hardtopNew tires Within the past two years: All new ignition coilsRear springsRear shock absorbersRear bushingsRear padsNew battery Within the past three years or so: New water pump, thermostat and thermostat housingNew radiatorNew alternator New front brake calipersNew windshield (damn stone chips!)New convertible top motorNew windshield washer pump Now, about 2 years ago, I was driving home from the airport late one night, swerved to miss a deer, went into some “road salt” gravel and bottomed out the front bumper on a berm. It scraped up the bottom of the bumper cover pretty bad and broke one of the fog lights. I took advantage of the situation and replaced the bumper cover, all the bumper trim, the fog lights, the headlight lenses and the front kidney grill. So…why am I telling you this? Not because of the accident. That was really no big deal. I’m telling you because the front of the car looks terrific! All of the light lenses are crystal clear, look like new and there are no stone chips or curb scuffs on the front bumper! Many older BMWs (including my 2000 528i) have foggy lenses, curb rash along the bottom and stone chips all over the front bumper. Not this 328! It looks nearly new! Ok, I am a VERY honest guy and I don’t want anyone to be disappointed with anything they purchase from me, so here’s a complete rundown of the overall condition of the car. Exterior: I just had the car detailed, so it is super clean and waiting for you in my garage. The paint looks terrific, even up close, and is all original except for the front bumper coverThere are some stone chips on the hood and a very tiny chip (not a crack) in the lower center windshield. There is a little icepick-sized dent behind the driver’s side door. Not a paint scratch, just a ding There is a small scratch on the hood on the passenger side. It will probably buff out. There is a very small dent (1 inch flat spot) and a small scratch along the edge of the trunk thanks to a shopping cart . Hard to see.I backed into a small landscape rock one day and it left a scratch on the bottom of the rear bumper cover. You almost have to be under the car to see it. There are a few other scuffs in the paint that will probably buff out. There is a small rust bubble at the bottom of the trunk opening above the rear bumper. (The car is black and it is very hard to see) There is a small rust bubble at the top of the driver’s side A-pillar by the windshield. (hard to see)There is no other rust on the car that I know of The convertible top looks good. There is one pinhole sized mark on the top (doesn’t leak)The convertible top vinyl rear window is clear, but it has a few scuffs on it. The removable hardtop looks beautiful The wheels look excellent, the tires are at least 60% and the spare tire and wheel are good. Interior The interior was also just detailed and it looks excellent (it was cleaned AFTER these pictures were taken and looks even better)The carpet looks very good The trunk carpet looks excellent There is a seam split in the driver’s side seat bottom. It does not gap. There is some scuffing on the driver’s side seat back and a little wear along the edge of the seatThere is some scuffing behind the driver’s door where the seatbelt hits the panelThe top of the driver’s side door panel looks a little discolored. It is hard to see and it might clean up The rest of the leather, carpet and door panels look excellent. The convertible top headliner looks OK, but need to have new window wings installed (I have the parts and will provide them with the car)There is a little access panel (half a business card sized) missing at the front of the convertible top.The top functions perfectly but sometimes does not fold into the boot properly and needs to be helped so it does not stick out when closedThere is a small tear on the passenger side of the center arm rest. The coin tray is broken. It looks OK but the springs came out so it does not hold coins. I just never replaced it. The shift knob is firmly attached, but rotates a little. It is not supposed to do that….The burlwood console cover was cracked and no replacement was available so I replaced it with a standard console cover. The seats are electric multi-position for both the driver and passenger but the passenger side back mechanism doesn’t move. It is probably just a loose gear or connection. I am including my BMW mats, but you might want to purchase some new ones. The BMW trip computer works perfectly but the LED panel occasionally flickers when you first start the car. Common problem. The (stock) Harmon-Kardon stereo works perfectly and sounds great (even with the top down!) This car does NOT have heated seats Mechanical: The engine runs strong, idles well and maintains perfect operating temperature The engine starts right up and does not smoke at all There are no fluid leaksThe A/C is cold Other: The car gets about 22 miles to the gallonThe original BMW toolkit in the trunk is complete and the jack, tire iron and wheel stop are present. The car comes with the factory alarm systemThe remotes work fine but occasionally the driver’s side door will not unlock with the remote. The owner’s documentation (manuals, etc) is complete. I have receipts for all the work I've had done. There are two keys and two remotesI have clear title to the car and will work with you to deal with all the paperwork. (I have bought and sold cars on eBay before) The car is being sold as-is where is, but I will help you with shipping, etc. if necessary. I require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of the auction end and payment That’s about it. Check out all the pictures and let me know if you have any questions. I have or can take more pictures if there is anything specific you want to see.
