I know how you feel. Every week I go to specialty and dealer-only auctions to find the best of the best in what I call "niche autos". I'll see roughly 1500-3000 local cars on my lists every week and only find a handful of treasures. I want to own it. On the way home yesterday, it was hard not picturing this Mercedes in my life for real. The air conditioning was icy cold and unlike most aftermarket stereo installations we come across in this business, the Clarion head unit in this car (with its motorized 7-inch touch-screen) sounds just like the Harman Kardon system I was listening to the day before in an M3. It tracks down the highway with no vibrations, no pulling and feels rock solid. We installed new brake pads, front and rear, the tires have years of life left and the whole car is confidence inspiring, like you wouldn't hesitate to take a long trip. Like you want to take a road trip . . . Dark tint. Shiny wheels. Although Aspen Green is a bona fide Mercedes-Benz color, I don't see it very often and I like seeing it on this car with its dark tint and high-polished 8-hole alloy wheels. The paint is actually very good, panel seams are tight and the body is straight too . . . Dealers like us are not the bad guy. Buy a pretty, shiny Mercedes from a private individual and you are taking a huge risk. We have documentation showing this car has been fully serviced and can even put you in touch with the authorized facility that did the brakes and told us what we already knew. The three previous owners of this C230 took very good care of their car. Private sellers can't tell you that. They also don't know how to perform an inspection and don't know what to look for in a used Mercedes. We are Mercedes-Benz experts and it is not arrogance if it's true. This is a top-shelf Mercedes because our mechanic says it is and because we say it is . . . What about that wavy area below the right tail light? The car has a squeaky clean Carfax so, we know nothing serious happened and honestly, the rest of the car is so unbelievably awesome, it took me about a half minute to get over it. No joke, it's barely noticeable and it looks much less significant in person. Especially when you're behind the wheel, marveling at the quality of everything . . . Original Window Sticker It every way that matters, this Mercedes-Benz looks and functions like a new car and with things like traction control, auto-dimming mirrors, side airbags and a power sun roof, it feels like a high-end sports sedan. We have the original window sticker with its $34,070 MSRP. In 1999, an entry level Mercedes-Benz like this cost nearly as much as a Corvette. Quality doesn't come cheap . . .
