Vehicle Detail

Well, I really hate to part with this bike… but the time has come for me to realize that my off-road riding days are over. Just getting too old & too out of shape these days to be able to enjoy it anymore. This is the 2011 “TRIPLE BLACK” edition of the famous R1200GS. In addition to all of the nice things that BMW included with this version… as you can see in the pictures, I’ve added my own share of upgrades & cosmetic touches to the bike. I’m a guy with a short inseam, so I’ve got the “low version” seat on this bike. The seat cover came from a wrecked adventure version of the GS that my dealer had in his shop. I like the red/black color combo, bought it, and then put it on this seat. One note: The GPS unit shown in the pictures on the bike is NOT included. As far as everything else goes… here’s the list of added accessories: BMW (All Items Powder Coated Black) LOWER SKID PLATE:FRAME COVERSCYLINDER HEAD GUARDSLARGE REAR BRAKE PEDALLED TURN SIGNALS (FRONT & REAR) JESSE SYSTEMS: ODYSSEY II PANNIERS (LOW PIPE) & MOUNTS ALTRIDER: UPPER CRASH BARLOWER CRASH BAR PIAA AUX LIGHTS TOURATECH: FUEL LINE GUARDSGPS Mount (Locking)LARGE FOOTPEGS ADVENTURE WORKSHOPS: POTENTIOMETER GUARDREAR BRAKE RESERVOIR GUARDFRONT BRAKE RESERVOIR GUARDCLUTCH RESERVOIR GUARD TWISTED THROTTLE: BARKBUSTER HAND GUARDSTHROTTLE-LOCGIVI AF300 WINDSCREENSW-MOTECH ELECTRIFIED TANK BAG, w GPS MOUNT GSessories: TAILGUNNER REAR CASE & MOUNT EXCELL CYCLE WORKS: STREBEL COMPACT HORN & RELOCATION KIT MACHINEART MOTO: MUDSLING IIFRONT FENDER EXTENDER WUNDERLICH: STEERING STOPSSEAT GUIDES“FLASH” FOLDING MIRRORSHEADLAMP GUARDVARIO LEVERS MISC: FRONT FORK BUNG PROTECTORSFRONT BRAKE CALIPER PROTECTORSFINAL DRIVE PROTECTOR GUARD & BUNGLED FLASHING AUXILIARY BRAKE LIGHTSHANDLEBAR SOFT “GRIP-PUPPIES” If you take the time to add all of those items together, and you’ll find that it’s about $8,000 worth of accessories & protective guards. This bike has been tested, and is ready to ride anywhere you want to go. It has given me many hours of fun & excitement… and with only a little over 7,000 miles on the odometer, it’s got lots more to give. (actual odometer reading, as of 3/14/14: 7287, but the bike is still being ridden occasionally) All of the required service checks have been done by BMW technicians… and a brand new set of Continental TKC 80 tires were just mounted last week. Bottom line… the winning bidder will not be disappointed with this bike. It is ‘turn-key’ ready to rock, with nothing else needing to be added. Now for the boring stuff: Please note that this is a NO RESERVE auction. No games, no fishing expeditions. The opening bid price is the lowest that I will accept for the bike… and if you bid, you may win. So please do not place a bid unless you are prepared to follow through. Although I have described the bike to the best of my ability… and as far as I’m aware, everything is in good working order. However, it is a used bike… and as such, is being sold “as is”, and no warranty is being provided and/or implied. My feedback rating on items I have sold is perfect, and I take it very seriously. Although I live in NC… I’ve been on the road in my RV since November, and am currently between Phoenix & Tucson, Arizona. I’ll be in this area another 2 weeks, and then heading back east. If you’re out here in the west, you can pick the bike up from me here before I leave. Or, if you’re anywhere along the I-10 or I-20 corridor, chances are I’ll be near you sometime in the next few weeks… and you can meet me somewhere along my route to pick up the bike. Regardless if that fits your situation or not… responsibility for picking up and/or shipment of the bike is the responsibility of the buyer. Of course, I have a truck, and for an added fee I could possibly deliver it… but those details would need to be worked out PRIOR to the end of the auction. Payment: Unless other arrangements are agreed upon in advance… a non-refundable $1000 deposit shall be required within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The full remaining balance shall be made in CASH when the bike is picked up… which shall be within 14 days of the end of the auction. If you request to make the remaining balance payment via PayPal… you will need to add an additional 3% to the final payment to cover their fees. If you have any questions about the bike, or the conditions of the sale… please feel free to ask. I’ll try to answer as quickly as possible. Thanks for your time. EDIT... Added 7:30 PM, March 15th: By the many questions I've received, it's obvious that I've left out a few details on the bike... so let me see if I can get to the most asked issues: * The bike does have ABS, that can be toggled on or off (for highway or off-road conditions) * The bike has the BMW Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) package. * The bike does have the BMW electronic computer... which provides average speed, fuel range, average MPG, etc. * The is the standard version of the GS bike... not the lowered version. It does, however, have the lowered seat. As such, with the ESA in the "Comfort, 2-up" position, seat height is about 30". I have a 29" inseam, and it allows me to get my feet on the ground just fine. * The bike does NOT have the BMW tire pressure monitoring system. * Of the 7200+ miles on the bike... less than 1,500 of them have been "off-road". However, I am still riding the bike while on my RV trip, and may ride a few more gravel road miles before I leave here, or before the bike is sold... whichever comes first. * The bike has only been down once... and that was in soft sand & mud at about 5-to-10 mph. Absolutely no damage to the bike or any of its accessories, except for lots of caked-on mud that I had to wash off. :) * The Jesse luggage is removable.. and adjustable. It can be moved forward & rearward slightly to adjust the weight if needed. It can be removed by simply opening the lid, and 'un-winding' the cam lock. Check out the Jesse website for demos. * The Tailgunner rear case is mounted on a plate, and simply locks into the place the rear seat would normally go. Removing it and/or re-mounting it is as simple as removing the rear seat would be. * I no longer have the original rear seat, nor any of the other stock luggage mounts. I modified what was on the bike to fit my needs. And since I only ride this bike solo, I had no need for the rear seat. I sold it here on eBay awhile back.. and if you need one, they are readily available. * As stated previously in this ad... the opening bid is the lowest amount I will accept for the bike. I have no pressing need to sell it, and since I have 2 other motorcycles, I don't need 'fast cash' to trade it in on another bike. In fact, I'm quite sure that I could get more than the opening bid in trade from a BMW dealer on another bike.. but I don't need one. I'm selling the bike simply because I don't need it, and with the way it's set up, it'd be a shame to let it just sit around in my garage to be ridden 2 or 3 times per year. * Finally, many of you have asked for a contact number. While I have no reservations about speaking to any of you about the bike or arrangements... as I said, I'm playing snowbird in my toyhauler-type RV, and most of the places I go each day have little-to-no cell service. As such, if you have questions, it's far better for you to post them here. I can occasionally find a Wi-Fi hotspot to check in with on my iPad, and can answer your questions a lot faster that way. Thanks again for your interest in the bike.
