Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4-door 4WD Sport Utility Vehicle. I purchased the vehicle new from a dealer and have been the vehicle's only owner. There are no liens on the vehicle--the title is clear, and I have it in-hand, ready to transfer to you upon purchase. Because I am a stand-up guy, I'm going to be totally honest about the vehicle's condition: this SUV needs work. If you're mechanically inclined, or if you have a connection to somebody who knows what they're doing, this SUV will be a great deal for you. I've decided not to fix the car myself, and my loss is your gain. Here's what you need to know:The engine is throwing a p1490 code (EVAP Vacuum Cut Valve Bypass Circuit Malfunction). This is the only engine code; I'll have a code-reader on hand so you can verify when you purchase the vehicle. On 2/28/2014, I obtained an emissions waiver, which means that this vehicle can be licensed in Washington without an emissions test for the next two years. Upon inspection by an Ecology Authorized Emission Specialist, he noted that the wiring to this circuit appears to have burned out. This has no impact on driveability or safety, but long-term, you might want to repair the wiring to the relevant EVAP circuit. The engine stalled as I was pulling away from the Emissions facility. Literally, within two blocks. No horsepower, no power steering, no power braking--just lights on the dash. The engine was totally off. I coasted the vehicle onto a side road and parked it there. I could not get the engine to start again. Electrical power is fine; there are still lights on the dash, and the starter turns over, but the vehicle won't start. I don't know if water got into the fuel line, or if my spark plugs have failed, or if it's something else. As I said, I'm not going to put money into this vehicle, so my loss is your gain.I don't know if the vehicle will start when you come to see it, but if it does, I'm only okay with a test drive around the residential streets where the vehicle is parked. NO arterials or freeways--I don't want to be in the car if it stalls again, risking collision with another vehicle. You will, of course, be able to rev the engine while it's in park or neutral, but the test drive (if any) will be limited to 20-25 mph on residential streets only. You gotta be okay with that. Now, for the positives:I've maintained this vehicle well. I serviced it at all the factory-recommended intervals. Since it hit 90,000 miles, I've had oil changes done with high-mileage synthetic blend oil. The next oil change isn't due for about 3000 more miles.I put a brand new, 3-year warranty battery in the vehicle on 11/2/2013, in advance of cold winter weather this season. I still have the receipt for the battery.I replaced the rear shocks and struts on 11/26/2011, at Les Schwab with a lifetime warranty. I still have the receipt. The vehicle is currently running winter wheels with studded snow tires. I bought them at Les Schwab, so you get lifetime summer/winter switch-outs free of charge. All-season tires were purchased new, and put on the original wheels, three years ago. You get both the winter and summer sets. The vehicle has a trailer hitch and a tow capacity of 5,000 pounds. Currently setup with a 7-round connector and a charge line to the trailer (meaning you can charge your RV's battery while towing). The vehicle is in good condition, both interior and exterior. Normal paint chips, small dings, and marks that can be expected on a vehicle with almost 138K miles. Windshield doesn't have any dings or cracks, nor do any of the other windows. You get the original factory roof racks. The interior looks nice, and everything works as it did when it came from the factory--radio, cassette, CD player, 12V outlets, seats, lights, windshield wipers, turn signals, etc. The premium cloth seats look great. The only thing missing is one of the rear passenger floor mats (I left it behind at the car wash one time, after vacuuming out the passenger compartment). There's even a cargo cover in the back so that you can hide items stored in the rear of the vehicle.Nobody has ever smoked in the vehicle. The automatic transmission is well-configured. Lots of power when you need it, no jerking when shifting gears. I always appreciated that the vehicle didn't require premium fuel for powerful performance. The factory sound system in this Pathfinder is excellent (and no, I haven't blown out any of the speakers). The radio and climate control knobs/settings are really functional and easy to use. I think the Pathfinder has the best-designed instrument panel of any vehicle I've ever driven (which includes many rental vehicles on vacations)--really legible numbers, nice dials, and an awesome titanium-colored background. The sunroof is fun to open on nice days. I love the leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-trimmed shift knob. It gives the Pathfinder a premium feel. This vehicle rides nicely, is fun to drive, performs well in the snow, and can manage rutted and bumpy dirt roads with ease. I've used it to tow a small RV through Yellowstone, Glacier, Mt. Rainier, Grand Teton, and other national parks, and it's always been a pleasure to use.You get two keys, two remote entry fobs, and a valet key (which doesn't unlock the glove compartment). This Pathfinder has served me well for the last thirteen years, and I'm sad to see it go, but I had already been planning on picking up a new vehicle, and with the current mechanical issues, it's time to say goodbye. I'm just not interested in fixing whatever's broken, but if you are, you're going to get a good deal on this SUV. I've been totally upfront about the vehicle's flaws, so don't waste my time if you're not seriously interested. Cash only on this purchase--you give me the cash, I sign over the title. Call 509-720-8720 if you want to see it. Weekends are best, but I can also meet most weekdays after 5pm. Thanks for reading.
