Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1952 Triumph Thunderbird 6T 650 Twin. The engine and frame numbers are matching. Not sure of the mileage, the title states 68472, however the odometer shows 30969. This bike was restored by one of the most respected Triumph builders in the area. The bike has been in climate controlled storage for the past 12 years. We added fuel, engine oil and a few drops of oil to the SU carb and it started up in 2 kicks. There were no signs of smoke from the exhaust, the oil returns back to the oil tank as designed and the tell tale oil pressure indicator popped out as it should. We had to put a new oil return line (not correct) and new clamps on the oil feed line as they were leaking badly. The rebuilt BTH magneto has nice hot spark and the original SU carburetor appears to work nicely. Weather did not permit a ride but the transmission shifts through the gears nicely and the clutch plates were not stuck. The Avon tires show no signs of dry rot or wear, however, most of the small rubber parts will need to be replaced (hand grips, foot peg & kicker rubbers, as well as the "D" shaped nacelle grommets). Sorry no side stand, rear stand only. The paint and pinstriping on the bike were superbly done, however, there are several very small chips and scratches (see pics). There are also 2 tiny dings on the front fender that I could not get to show up in the pictures. There are some scratches on the mufflers, other than that, the chrome parts are in excellent condition. We did not replace the old battery, so the lighting system has not been checked. However, everything was working perfectly at the time it was put into storage. Please look at the pictures and ask questions. I will be happy to answer with the best of my ability. Here is a youtube link to the bike being started. http://youtu.be/AJ1TBNF7Y7Q Also, I have a 1960 Triumph Speed Twin 5TA listed. The ebay number is 221382838172. A $500 paypal deposit will be required within 48 hours of the auction's end. The balance will be paid in cash at the time of pickup. I will accept other payments as long as the funds clear before the bike leaves my shop. I have sold several bikes to Japan and Australia and will be happy to assist in any way I can. Shipping arrangements are the sole responsibility of the buyer.
