Vehicle Detail

Hello! I just finished this 1976 Honda CB550 Café Racer build and I'm offering it up for sale for a very realistic price. I have been building motorcycles for several years and pride myself in doing quality work, made to not only look good but function great as well. I started this build in July of this year and have put hundreds of hours into it. This bike started as a great running CB550 with 6xxx original miles that needed some major cosmetic love. I completely tore this bike down and refurbished, restored and/or replaced every nut, bolt and part on it, and assembled it together using all the proper techniques and specs. NO corners were cut! This is a real deal experienced build. Take a look at the pictures very closely, every small detail was considered to make this bike clean and functionally. Here is list of work done to the bike as well as new parts: -Frame has been de-tabbed, inspected and repainted using high quality enamel -Engine has been ceramic coated gloss red with polished fins (the ceramic will not peel or flake from high engine temperatures) -Engine covers have been polished -Performance clutch plates installed -Engine bolts were greased to spec when installed -New NGK spark plugs -NGK spark plug caps -Wiring harness was completely disassembled, thoroughly gone through and rewrapped -All electrical components have been tested and replaced if needed -Brand new Bridgestone S11 Spitfire tires front and rear -Brand new tire tubes -Lester MAG wheels installed with fresh paint and polished lips (the bearings were inspected and are in excellent shape, this bike rolls like butter) -Front brake completely rebuilt, fresh pads and fluid, ceramic coated caliper, replaced brake line, polished master cylinder, brake rotor in excellent shape -Clutch and brake levers were reshaped, polished and had dimples drilled for ascetics -New soft rubber racing handlebar grips -New bar end mirrors -Fork legs painted with high quality enamel -Wheel axles greased and installed to spec front and rear -New custom fork gators -New custom headlight ears -Headlight bucket painted with polished ring -New headlight bulb -Custom headlight stone guard -Anodized black aluminum clip on handlebars -All wiring has been hidden in the cleanest way possible -New mini tachometer and speedometer (and yes they are illuminated for night time riding) -4-into 1 header with ceramic exhaust wrap -Bolt on exhaust tip (has a mean sound, see video link below) -Carbs have been rebuilt andC rejetted to a 12 pilot jet and a 125 main. -Polished float bowls on carbs -Custom fiberglass tail section with 5+ layers of fiberglass, specially made for this frame (very strong, made to last) (20+ man hours in this alone) -Custom paint on gas tank, side covers and tail section (tank is brushed metal, patina-ed and cleared over to prevent rust) -Custom aluminum seat pan with professionally upholstered seat using high density foam, high quality vinyl and black upholstery thread -LED turn signals and LED brake/running lights custom fit in the tail section -Custom side mount license plate bracket -Side covers drilled with speed holes (not only look good but help keep the battery and electrical components cool) -New battery -Newer chain, front and rear sprockets in great shape -Swing arm repainted and greased to spec -All cables lubed -Custom rear set mounts, using 1/4 inch steel, brushed and cleared over to prevent rust (very strong) -Custom fit foot peg mounts from a CBR900RR -New anodized black foot pegs -Shortened rear brake pedal for rear sets -Modified shift linkage from a CBR600RR -All new fuel lines -Speed holes drilled in sprocket cover -Inspected rear brake pads (in great shape) polished drum -New UNI high flow are filters -Rear shocks disassembled, painted and polished I'm sure there is more I left out, but you get the idea. Look closely at the pictures the speak a thousand words. All of the work has been done very cautiously, making sure nothing was looked over. The bike works and functions exactly as it should. Brake light works off of both the front brake lever and rear brake pedal. Brake lights are very bright. Turn signals blink and are very bright. The electric starter is strong. The charging system has been fully gone through. Engine runs very smooth, (A lot of these engines are very noisy due to improper cam chain adjustment, this one is quite as con be). Clutch and tranny are very strong. Brakes work great. The bike is very comfortable to ride, the front end was lowered 1.5 inches and the clip-ons were mounted above the triple trees making it a lot easier on the back but still handle great. The seat just hugs you right in there, I could ride this bike anywhere comfortably. the rear shocks were adjusted to their stiffest setting for good high speed handling and are fully adjustable if desired. I have put about 30 miles on the bike since completed (speedo only shows 14 miles because it wasn't hooked up during some of the test riding). I want to be completely honest with any potential buyers, right now the bike starts and runs fine but is still a little on the lean side, I would recommend moving the needles in the carbs up a notch or two (very simple if you have never done it, its explained thoroughly in any CB550 service manual and can be done with basic tools). that being said, I was running it in 50 degree weather so if you plan on riding it in 75-85 degree weather it may just be good to go and i didn't do it myself just for that reason. Also, I tried my best to adjust the floats but these CB550s lean so much on the kickstand that it is very common for them to drip a little gas out of the overflow when the petcock is still on and the bike is on the kickstand, they do not leak when the bike is running. I would recommend addressing these two issues before any long trips, adjusting the floats and needles in the carbs are very simple procedures and anyone who has owned an old CB most likely knows how to do this in less than a half hour. The bike tops out at about 70mph at the moment but when its running more rich, the RPMs will be able to climb higher and exceed speeds of 90mph with some fine tuning. Other than those minor tuning procedures this bike is 100% ready to go! This bike gets looks everywhere I take it, Harley guys will even stop and stare at it until you rip away, the sound it makes is uncompromising! This bike was built for the Blue Collar guy who wants all the benefits of a full custom vintage bike and not break the bank! My reserve has been set very low considering the amount of work put into this bike. Look around, if you were to have a shop commission this bike to be built it would cost 10-15 grand! Get it for a fraction of that! Ride this thing and you will fall in love. The low end power is very surprising for an old inline 4 and this thing takes corners much better than I was even expecting. Its a blast to ride!! I had a lot of fun building it and now its time to pass it on to a deserving new owner. I have a clean title in my name on hand. Please only bid if you are a serious buyer, a nonrefundable deposit will be required through Paypal and the remainder being paid cash in person. Pick up only, I will gladly work with any shipping company and help load it.
