1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupé In 1993 Porsche introduced what is regarded by many as the most beautiful 911 of all: the Type 993. Over the years the 911 had received many aerodynamic and safety-inspired add-ons, diluting the purity of the original form; the Type 993's arrival marked a return to basic principles, being recognisably a 911 but one in which all functions had been harmoniously integrated in a truly outstanding example of modern automotive styling. The range offered remained pretty much as before, all powered by the latest, 3.6-litre version of Porsche's perennial flat-six engine. The car offered here, of 1996 vintage, is in exceptional condition throughout. The Polar Silver paint is excellent with no evidence of accidents or damage repair. The only blemish is a very minor ding to the rear bumper, which cracked the surface – a $200-300 repair at most. I have left it so the car can be presented as untouched and original. The 17" alloy wheels are all absolutely scuff-free and shod with good Michelin tires with ample tread remaining. The interior is also in excellent condition. The Supple Leather seat option makes for a very comfortable environment. Seat surfaces are all excellent, and panels, dash, carpets and headliner are all excellent. The only wear is on the driver’s seat bolster – a better than normal wear level, which is another very easy repair for about $100 with a little leather dye. The car comes with the original radio with trunk mounted CD changer and the electrically operated sunroof option. Mechanically, the car is as good as it looks, having covered only 76,000 miles from new. The engine is responsive with great power, and the Tiptronic transmission is smooth. Brakes, suspension and steering are all excellent and all electrical systems work perfectly, including cold AC. The car was serviced by a franchised dealership up to 45,000 miles with stamps in the service book, and then by an independent marque specialist, including a recent service to ready the car for sale. The car was purchased by effectively the second owner in 1998 in Northern California, who then transferred it to his daughter’s name in 2002. The car comes with a full compliment of books, keys, some records and a clean clear title . This is an excellent opportunity to own the last and and best from the far more collectible air-cooled era of Porsches. Now they are fantastic cars, but this is a fantastic Porsche.
