1967 Triumph T100 Daytona 500 Engine Number: T100R DD47608 Frame Number: T100C H50639 Competition success in the USA prompted Triumph to adopt the 'Daytona Tiger' name for their top-of-the range sports 500 in 1966, Buddy Elmore having won that year's prestigious Daytona 200 race on a works twin, a feat Gary Nixon repeated the following year on his way to the first of back-to-back AMA titles. Housed in a new frame common to the Tiger 90 and Tiger 100, the twin-carburettor Daytona engine produced 39bhp at 7,400rpm. Dubbed a 'Bonnie in miniature' by the motorcycling press, the new sporting middleweight came equipped with the 8"-diameter front brake of its larger sibling, but in a lighter more nimble package. These are a blast to ride, and ride anywhere. The beautifully presented and very well built 1967 Triumph T100 offered here was built by a capable enthusiast over about a year. Starting with a 1967 T100C frame, which was powdercoated along with the rest of the cycle parts, and fitted with a Daytona twin carb 500cc engine from April of 1970 build, arguably the best year of the engine. The engine was rebuilt from the sludge traps and crank up to valves, including new bearings
, seals, gaskets, rings, valves, etc. It runs well with good responsive power. For increased performance and reliability the bike runs on new carburetors. The gearbox was “gone-through” and shifts well through an excellent clutch. A new wiring harness was installed, with a new battery. Brakes are excellent, as is suspension. Tires are new. The bike is cosmetically excellent, with fresh paint, powdercoating, chrome plating, etc. throughout. Having covered only 274 miles since the full rebuild, it still shows perfectly. The bike starts easily and runs well. It handles really well, is light and nimble and a fantastic machine through city traffic and on the twisty country lanes.
