Up for auction is my patina'd 1942 chevy pickup. This truck was completed about a month ago and has around 500 miles on it. It was built in my shop, Eldred Hotrod Shop, as a personal project/shop truck. Starting with a fairly clean Virginia truck, we media blasted and epoxy primed all of the sheetmetal inside and out. The chassis has been scratch built on our frame jig, sleeving all joints and tig welded throughout. The frame was then sand blasted, molded and finished off in high gloss basecoat clearcoat black and is as nice as any high end streetrod ever to leave our shop. The underside of the cab and inner fenders have been coated with a sprayable bedliner material for durability and sound deadening. Due to the excellent shape of the cab floor, we decided not to channel the cab. In order to layout the boards on the ground, we extended the fenders and rockers 2 inches leaving all of our plannished tig welds exposed. The rear fenders are off of a 1940 ford pickup and actually fit the truck better than the stock fenders did. The only other body modifications to the truck would be the custom firewall we built on our pullmax machine and the scratch built tailgate. The taillights are converted 39 chevy pickup turn signals with red LED bulbs. The 3rd brake light in the gate is an unknown glass lens and housing also with an LED bulb. Much thought and detail have been put into the creation of the faux patina paint. You will be hard pressed to find a more authentic looking job anywhere you go. It fools almost anyone into thinking that it's mother natures work The paint consists of all high quality Sikkens basecoat followed up with two coats of there flat clearcoat. The truck could easily be sanded, bodyworked and painted if you prefer a show and shine finish. The interior of the truck was finished in high gloss. The restored 56 chevy steering wheel sits atop a brand new tilt column. The dash is out of a 39 chevy pickup with brand new Dolphin guages. The custom bench seat is wrapped in King Ranch leather and the new headliner and kick panels are wrapped in burlap. The glove box now holds a new set of Viair guages with plenty of room left to hide a stereo. New window gaskets are installed and side glass rolls up and down perfectly. The front frame rails have mount holes for a front bumper which I have and can include upon request. Absolutely no corners were cut in the build process of this truck and I can assure that you won't find one of higher quality, reliability and drivability. Our shop is known for building high end street rods that have won many national indoor and outdoor show awards including a Goodguys 2012 Truck of The Year top 5. It took hundreds of man hours to complete this truck. Basically all mechanical and electrical parts are new. This is not your typical '' RatRod".
