Vehicle Detail

Previous local owner had owned this car for many years, looks like he had a street rod makeover 10,20 or 30 years ago. It appears to have been garaged for probably most of its life since then. He completely rebuilt the 216-6 motor and put in a floor shift 3-speed manual transmission (and removed the column shift). Engine starts up with ease, even after sitting with months. Runs and drives smooth, does not smoke, just purs along with the classic Chevy 6 sound. It had less than 2000 miles on it since rebuild when I purchased the car 2 years ago. I probably have put less than 1000 miles on it since then. I have several classics, so they mostly sit waiting for me to have time to drive them. I keep Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer in my cars so the gas doesn't go bad. I try to run them every few weeks though. I drive it around town for occasionally for fun and sometimes take it to the local hotrod shows. Driving it anywhere has never had a problem. I drive it in the Phoenix heat, and it has never ran hot, even sitting in traffic. The previous owner lowered the front coils by cutting them, so it rides and drives like a car lowered that way. But it is still good enough to not be a problem over speed bumps and tracks good. He also put Toyota brand aluminium mags on it. The car still has original style drum brakes on all 4 wheels. I had custom lug nuts made for it to be safer since the Toyota wheels use a special design and I was uncomfortable with the standard GM lugs that were on it. It has been converted to 12v and all lights work. The paint is good but old, and there are some bubbles in it (bad prep?) that I try to show in photos. There is a rust spot under rear passenger door, but is is only exterior of the cabin and was hidden under carpet when I bought it. Everything else looks pretty good when I looked it over. The only real exterior body issue the car has is the passenger rear fender has a dent in it from a big truck tire rolling into it. A guy at the car show said his buddy could probably remove it, pound it out, or do whatever they do to get it back to normal shape and color match it again for $500-$1000. I will let the next owner figure out if they want to fix it and re-color the whole car or not. It really isn't that bad visually and maybe it could be popped back out for nothing. I haven't had the time to even try to fix it. It has a Fulton style windshield sunvisor and I am told these are worth $500-$750 used, so there is a major part of the value you are getting right there! Speedo and gauges work, mileage I listed here is approx, I do not know if the odometer has rolled or not. I will let the photos show the condition of the car, it is by far the best classic I have found for under $10k. I purchased the car because it looked like it was a great starting point (clean and good looking) for a V8 swap daily driver. But life changes and now I am selling because I am buying a new house and need to raise some cash for a down payment. You can make arrangements to inspect it if you want. I will be honest, it is an old car, with old car technology, it drips a small amount of oil (which is normal) BUT it runs, drives, stops and is reliable. It is in very good condition for the price I am asking, and I don't think you can't go wrong with it. It should load onto any transport trailer just fine, or drive across town if you are local. Since this is a car from the 1940's I wouldn't drive it across country, although I have no doubt if you took your time, you would get there with no issues. There is not much more I can tell you, other than this is one of the cleaner 48's you will see around. I am setting a low starting price, with no reserve because I need the cash soon. My loss will truly be your gain. Clean title, has current license and registration, all in my name. By placing a bid, the bidder accepts that this vehicle is Sold AS-IS and it is offered for sale locally and it may be remove from Auction at any time if sold elsewhere. Buyer will have to pay a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit at end of auction, via PayPal. Balance of sales price will be due via Certified Cashiers Bank Check, within 10 days. After your payment, I will overnight you a bill of sale, signed title work. BUYER TO ARRANGE ALL SHIPPING from zip code 85205 (Mesa, Arizona). No international buyers please. After your payment, I can hold the car for up to a month until you can arrange pick up - it will be in a locked yard and covered for safe keeping. Commercial transports can pick up at my address very easy. On Oct-08-13 at 23:10:20 PDT, seller added the following information: ***************** PLEASE NOTE ************************** This is a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster. I accidentally picked the wrong type during the rather confusing eBay auction category setup in eBay Motors. The body tag is still on the car and it is Model No. 48-1019 - Sport Sedan 4 Door Thank you fellow eBay watcher for catching my mistake. eBay does not let me change the name of the car in the title so I am putting the correction here. Sorry for the confusion. ************************************************************
