Up for auction is a 1956 Chevrolet 3200 truck with a 235 6cyl and a 3spd manual trans on the column. This was the shop/delivery truck for Murray Industrial Supply Co. in Sacramento CA. for many years, and has been in Central California all it's life. I believe that I'm the third owner. The truck runs, drives and has a current registration through October 2013. It still has the black and yellow California plates from 1963. The engine does not smoke and thanks to a Petronix electronic ignition it fires on the first crank-every time. The engine runs cool. The valves sound ok. The trans shifts good. The clutch has a minor chatter and the occasional 1st gear grind. All the brake shoes and wheel cylinders are new, and the master cylinder has been rebuilt. The brakes stay pumped up all the time and work really well. The front wheel bearings have been replaced and repacked. The gas gauge and amp gauge work, but the speedo needs a new cable, the oil pressure needs a new oil line, and the temp gauge needs a new sender. The blinkers and taillights need a little work. This was a factory radio and heater delete truck and still has the delete plates. The original seat has been recovered. The two things that the truck needs is a new set of tires (the tires show weather checking but I still drive it around town), and the windshield has a crack. Overall the truck is in good mechanical shape and nobody has messed with it over the years, it's still remarkably original. The dash doesn't even have any extra holes drilled in it as most do. The rims and hubcaps are the original and it also has the factory spare under the bed. It has a 6 lug bolt pattern. The Logos and patina on the truck are genuine. The paint is Granite Gray and it is the original paint, but it has been spotted and blended in a couple spots over the years. The truck, although it does have dents and dings, is mostly rust free. The cab is really solid and has no rust, the floors are nice and do not need any repair same with the cab corners, roof and rain gutter. The door bottoms show some pitting and very small rust holes, but the lower hinge pocket on both doors are solid. The only other rust that the truck has is a dime sized hole on the lower passenger front fender, behind the tire. I have posted pics of the three rusty ares. As far as rust goes, this truck is far, far above average. The body does have some dents and dings, but the bed sides are as nice and straight as I've ever seen on one of these trucks. The bed length is 7'4", its in between a long and short bed which is typical for the 3200 model. This is a great truck and you can't go anywhere without getting a thumbs up. This truck has no surprises, I've been honest with the goods and bads about it. I have the original key that works on the door and ignition. I have a clean and clear California title.
